It may be a little early yet, but I just wanted to put some feelers out and see if there's anyone in this community who's planning on going to Burning Man this year, and if so, if you have any plans to 1) bring a pole, 2) participate in a contest, or 3) go poling while you're there. I've gone before as a poler, and I know that there are usually several camps with poles.  If possible, I'd like to organize some sort of biking/walking tour of camps with poles this year.  A kind of mobile pole-a-thon.  If you're interested, leave me a note with some info, and I'll start of list of people so we can organize this as the time event gets closer.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone on Veena is going to Burning Man and is interested in the "pole-a-thon" I'm organizing.   It's a guided bike tour of camps with poles, now planned for the Tuesday night of the week, meeting at 8pm in front of the Autosub dome in the Boston village.

You should totally go.  Burning Man has everything you can imagine, and then some.  If you want to know what getting there involves (because it's a lot, too), send me a message.

Hey Elektra!  I will be there this year.  I am a virgin and going with my BF.  I will be bringing a 10' pole with me for our camp.  What kind of contests are there or events?  Sounds like fun!!!  I can't wait

@ Kendra:  Do you know where your camp will be located or will you be choosing a spot when you get there?  (I'd like to add you to my list of camps with poles.) Other camps with poles include: and then there's only love, Area 51, Polegasm, White Trash Superstars, Cats!Cats!Cats!, LAFer camp, Whiskey and Dust, and the Boston Village. I'm running at least two events: the Pole-A-Thon on Tuesday night, and a Sea Creature Pole Jam at 9pm on Friday.  That will be on the Boston Village's 13' spinning pole at 2:30 & A.

As for other events, in years past camp Pleasair has run a week-long pole contest, with the winner getting an airplane ride over BRC, but I didn't see it in the listings this year, so I'd check with the camp to see if it's on.  As for other pole and aerial events, I've condensed the online listings into the following document.  There should also be more listings in the actual What Where When that you'll get at the gate.
