Nail art stamping kit
Posted by Dancing Paws on April 29, 2012 at 10:24 amI was meandering thorugh walmart yesterday and came across a "nail art stamping kit." I guess it's an as seen on TV thing. I don't have TV so it's completely new to me. Has anyone used it? Does it work???? I love putting designs on my nails, but I don't want to waste my money on something that does a poopy job. Thanks!

Is it one of those ones with a metal plate with little impressions in it? And you paint the polish over the impression, roll over it with the rubber stamp and then stamp it on your nail? If that’s it then I have one! And I never use it…
I found it only worked with the polishes it came with which was just white as most other polishes were too thin and didn’t show. I guess if you had a really opaque color it might work. I don’t overly love the patterns that came with the plate in the kit I got and never got around to buying more. The pattern is quite thin and delicate but I found not very noticeable. I actually got one of those nail art pen kits off eBay a while back which I love when I wanna go all out and do something really cool lol

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Sounds like it's not worth it then. I guess I'll continue doodling on them myself. Thanks!

i think it depends on what system you buy 🙂 i've heard a lot of good things about hte konad system… this blogger has a bunch of posts about it, and so do a lo of other makeup gurus :

Haha – I happen to be a nail blogger, and I love stamping! 🙂 The results definitely vary depending on the plates you use. I only own one set of plates, the Bundle Monster 25 plate set (http://www.bundlemonster.com/nail-art-stamping-image-plates-set-25pc.html) which is $22 + shipping. It's a lot better value than Konad plates, which often cost $10 per plate… but 25 plates might be a lot to get if you're not sure yet. I've also heard that Red Angel and SHANY plates are good, and Amazon/eBay are good places to get cheap plates. The rubber stamp is usually overpriced in shops but < $3 on eBay, and old credit cards are best for scraping.
There's a massive list of polishes that work with stamping plates here: http://sassestampingstampede.wordpress.com/polish/
And some of my stamped manis:
