Working on both of these moves and I got thinking.  Since my stronger split is with my RIGHT leg forward, shouldn't that be the leg I bring by my face for the Jade?  Thats not the way I've been doing it, and to change that, I would have to start to invert on my weak side.  Please tell me it doesn't really matter……

Usually yes, the more flexible hamstring should be the leg you pull towards your face. But…always try both side, you never know. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Oh, GREAT (not really)!  Guess I best start working on my weak side invert!  Thanks V!  🙂

I always inverted with the pole on my left side which would have made it so I had to be able to pull my left leg for jade but I didn't have my left split.  I decided it would take a lot less time to learn to invert on the other side than get my left split.  I was right I learned the other side invert in about 2 months but it took another two years to get my left split.   So yeah, you gotta learn it on the other side.  Good luck with it, stick with it, it will happen.

Oh Lyme!  I'm exactly like you!  When I get into my jade, the leg that I pull towards my face is my weaker leg that's not as flexible, which is my left.  I did a practice video and many of the Veeners were very helpful with tips on how to get your jade to look flatter, even if you are doing it with your "not as flexy leg".

The jade is one of those moves you can so totally easily cheat!  There's just too many comments on that video to post here, so here's the link to the practice video with all the helpful tips!  Hope this helps!

I was the same so I just learnt to invert my weak side. Its good to even out both sides anyway.

Also particularly came in handy for Russian/oona splits as that required an invert on my bad side to get my flexible leg on the pole 🙂

Luckily for me my bad side split is nowhere near as bad as my bad side invert, so I can get away with it:) So my advice would be to pick which is the lesser of two evils (ie. which are you more likely to get or at least fake – bad side split or invert) and go with that!

I have to say though, a move I really like, and which I've only ever seen David Owen doing, is the jade switch. Like a scorpio switch but with a jade – amazing and impressive!

a "half jade" is just as impressive as a full Jade. You can also consider that option while you are working on your flexibility.

“a “half jade” is just as impressive as a full Jade” ooh, what’s a ‘half jade’? TIA!

I think of a half jade as one where your outside leg is bent into a sharp stag position and the leg behind you, the inside leg is the only one that's fully extended. Reguires all the same body positioning but you have one leg bent.  🙂

I think it's the other way? or you said that backwards. I'm very dyslexic so I got it.  Inside leg, so that hip and waste can grip the pole..outside leg extends..just like regular jade. Grab your inside leg and really push/pull it towards the pole.

Yes, half jade or what I call half hip hold, the inside leg is tucked not overhead, the outside leg is extended, like the Split hip hold/jade….new lesson for this will be posted soon!! I think I would call polergirls variation an allegra or jade variation depending on hand placement. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
