The Double Bypass Burger, really?
Posted by wrinkletalk on May 5, 2012 at 1:35 amThis might not be news anymore since it happened over a week ago, but still, another person collapsed at the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas. I walked by this place a few months ago thinking that never in a million years would I be tempted to go inside and order a meal worth thousands of calories, but I guess there are plenty who think otherwise.

This restaurant and the entire concept behind it truly disgusts me.
I understand we are in a land of free enterprise and I can choose to avoid the establishment. They have just as much right to captilize on this business concept just as I have equal right to not dine there.
I do not see any type of entertainment value extracted from conditions related to poor cardiovascular health, poor nutritional choices or morbid obesity. They do openly state their offerings are not fit for human health. Even though any warning is likely part of their marketing strategy, restaurant theme and liability disclaimer.
Why would you intentionally and deliberately create the most unhealthy versions of a food possible? I mean a 10,000 calorie hamburger? French fries (not known to be health promoting foods anyways) friend in pure lard? Why? So you can make a marketing gimmick and then sexualize the concept? Looks like it is working.
It makes me sad for the individuals that have suffered health events while there. I hope they recover and find wellness.
… ugh.

Hoenstly, its up to yourself. No one else. I personally get angry at the fact that other people can take away my choises. They say that the grill has signs that warn people. They decided to eat there anyway. And as far as I know, you cant get sick from second-hand burger like smoking, so you only harm yourself by ignoring the warning. I think it is absolutly okay for a person to make that decition on their own.

I have been to Thurman's in Columbus and have eaten one of theirs (not this one but similar).

I do not eat like this all of the time but if I am some place and there is something that looks spectacular and is thousands of calories I really do not care.

I don't see it as all too harmless to someone who is healthy and eats something like that once in a while but if you're obese and at risk of health conditions or just straight up unhealthy and eat unhealthy foods all the time, then you're going to have problems when you eat something crazy like these burgers.
I get full from a regular cheeseburger with fries so I know I definitely would have to take the rest of a burger like this home for later but it would suck because burgers taste so much better fresh https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pumpkin.gif

Nobody can get a heart attack just because they're in the midst of eating bad food, it's going to happen as a result of a long track record of bad habits. These people who had collapsed obviously were not the healthiest. Still, as one who strives to keep healthy, I just don't see a reason for putting this stuff in my own body–but to each his own.

I've been to a restaurant like that and I really didn't enjoy it. I just felt awful during and after the meal. I get much more enjoyment out of eating a fresh healthy meal rather than eating something like that. Having said that, I still eat my fair share of junk (like chocolate.. :P) but I really want to focus more on making healthier meals <3

To me, it would problably be a healthy thing eating that burger, so I dont get all the deseases underwheigt people gets. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif I think all adult people can make up their own mind. Its ok to think its absolutly disgusting, but I think in this case, if you eat a double bypass burger and have a heart attack, its like complaigning you got cancer from smoking.
I would however get upset, if it was a child.

I agree 100% that this business has the right to be in business and each person has the right to eat there if they choose so. Also that each person can choose where, when and what to eat.
It is the cumulative effect of someone’s choices and lifestyle/biologocal/environmental/emotional factors that contribute to a persons state of health, agree!
Many factors can contribute to heart disease, dietary choice is not the only potential causative factor.
Offsetting to me is the marketing spin focused on disease and deliberate excessive calorie counts (even for restaurant standards).
I’ll pass on their double, triple and quadruple bypass menu offerings.
