Random Tips Thread!
Know those random things you find out that make your life so much better, and you just have to share? Well, I figured it would be fun to have a place to share them 🙂
I'll start with two things I found out lately, and I hope other girls will find useful:
Leg cramps
I used to suffer from pretty severe leg cramps – I haven't pointed my toes in years! Recently I found that cramping can be caused by dehydration and mineral deficiencies, among other reasons. In the past month I made a point of drinking at least 2 litre of water before practice and eating the kind of foods that help with leg cramps during the week (see here: http://www.livestrong.com/article/116308-foods-prevent-leg-cramps/), and I didn't cramp even once!Smelly workout cloths
This is a problem I think only sweaty people like me have – at first, when you buy new workout cloths and wear them for practice, they smell fresh. After a while – even if you air them and clean them really well in the laundry, the moment a single drop of sweat touches them you instantly become the smelliest person in the room (yuck!).
Normally, I would throw away my bra/shirt at this point, but lately I found that the bad smell is caused by bacteria that is growing inside the fabric, and that if you let them soak ~30 mins in water with a little bit of bleach (I have a kind that doesn't actually make the fabric white), and then put them in the laundry, it kills the bacteria and they become fresh again!
