can't wait for my foam roller to come in the mail tomorrow.

that's all I really have to say. but I really just can't wait for it to get here! and I didn't know who to tell it to! 🙂 I'm gonna give myself a massage, show that IT band who's boss, and use it to help with the splits.

any success stories to tell to get me further pumped up?

Been foam rolling about 7 weeks approx 2x a week and just about an inch away from my front splits! Never ablr to do them n my life, now in a few weeks i WILL have them at 47 years old. Mostly due to the foam roller i believe!

I just posted about a vidoe someone put up on how to get a flat jade. She learned how by tipping her hips w the roller too!

I don't know if it's helped my flexibility in the grand scheme of things, but foam rolling before practice or before stretching helps sooo much with making my legs feel looser and fluid. I love it.

You're very welcome, Lyme Lyte! 🙂 Now that I've seen your profile, I'm even more convinced you're in the role model category. I read the "I spend a lot of time traveling" as "I spend a lot of time time traveling" and the realization that you don't time travel is the only detraction. =P

Kyrelle, yeah, I pretty much am going to settle for the fact that it will be a reasonable massage if it does nothing else. =P I've never had a professional one so my standards are low. I have The Stick for my lower legs which did a lot and I can only imagine what a foam roller would do for me.

Lyme lite what is your foam rolling regime? you seem to have made real progress in a short time.

Actually I foam roll about 2x a week for only a few minutes. I then do some basic stretching and then start working on my splits. I use the foam roller t overstretch, then try it normal to see how far I go down, then I put my leg back up on the roller and try again. I prob do about 5x per side. I did try stretching yesterday and have seem to lost a bit of my flex, so I’m going to ramp up stretching and try to do 3-4 x a week for the next few weeks.

Do you actually use the roller while in the splits position? And roll the quads? can’t picture it :-$

Just like Veena has in her lessons. Put that roller under your forward leg/calf area and roll into it. This causes an oversplit! 🙂

I made mine with some spare PVC pipe I had laying around and a $5 firm but squishy floor mat from wal-mart and duct tape. Works great!
