Try keeping a fan blowing on you while you pole. Have you tried any grip aides like corn huskers lotion. It adds quite a bit of stickiness, and may counterract the sweat to some degree.

I have the opposite problem with grip since the air here is pretty dry, so sweating actually helps me stick!

I've used a humidifyer to help out my grip…if you live in a humid area maybe try a de-humidifyer?  It would increase the evaporation of sweat off your body so you wouldn't end up as wet.  I have no idea how affordable they are, probably a lot more expensive that a humidifyer.  Using a fan like sensualscimitar said might be a good option too.  In my experience corn huskers lotion makes my sweat more slippery, but maybe in a different climate results would vary.

Lately I've been using Dry Hands on my hands, and just started using it on my body too.  It says it repels sweat, and I find that when I use it on my hands, I don't slip even when I've gotten really sweaty hands.  I use it on my body too, but I haven't gotten sweaty enough to know if it still works through body sweat.

I'm in the same boat. My doctor prescribed me glycopyrrolate so that I don't sweat as much and it helps a lot!

This is THE most frustrating thing in my opinion. I just started poling in March so I'm not very good. I get very frustrated bc I am having hot flashes so on top of normal sweating I am flashing ever 20 minutes. Plus, I'm over weight. Seems like no matter what I try I'm down the pole in one spin which doesn't lend itself to improving very much. I guess it could still be that my grip isn't strong enough. I don't know what else to do as I've tried all the grips, fans, gloves, etc. I so want to put everything I have learned together in a routine of sorts but it's just not happening. I've almost given up due to this. I have thought about botox in my hands to stop sweating. Haven't asked the doctor yet. I can't even do floor work bc I slip all over the floor. When we are warming up my feet slide all over the place. Sucks is all I can say. I'm going to look into the glycopyrrolate. Sounds like it may help a lot!

I have sweaty hands. I can say that grip strength does make a difference! Work on your hand strength and it will get better.

Try a little product called Dry Hands…you can put a little on the Pole too..but it sounds pretty normal to have to take breaks to let your body cool down a little. I watch what I just video taped to recover. Few minutes on few minutes off….stretch a little. When You a few different typres of moves you can do you can practice less taxing stuff while your body recovers..Like a pirouette? Then try an inverted type thing on the floor or on the pole (depending on your level) once or twice…then practice a different move…like a great walk across the room…get what I mean? You will build up endurance that way and you feel like there is too much down time.

"NOT too much down time" is what I mean.

Someone suggested Gripmaster for strengthening your grip. I immediately ordered it. Can't wait for it to arrive. I am in my car a lot for work and am going to keep it in there to use while I drive. I think that will help a lot!

I am thinking about buying a different type of pole, I currently have a ss but I want brass or chrome, due to chronically sweaty hands. My grip is ok at first on the ss, but I lose it quickly as I get warm. Grip aids and fans do not work. Which would you guys recommend, brass or chrome? Thanks

beegle – What you get should be determined by what body type you have. If your legs get sweaty during practice, I'd avoid getting a brass as it can get too sticky and pull your skin too much. I know it sounds like a polers dream to have too much grip, but it's actually quite awful. It's easy to add grip but you cannot remove too much grip. If you have dry skin, brass might be dificult to hang onto with your legs, but it is pretty nice for hand grip. I just got a chrome pole and it is stickier than SS, for sure (if you have clammy hands), but you may still slide. I haven't tried my body grip on it yet. I did have a TG pole and it was good for body grip without being too sticky. It can also be quite grippy for the hands. No matter what pole you get, though, you will still need a grip aid on your hands to slow the sweating. You can always put a fan towards the pole and blow dry your hands during a practice.

That is very helpful, thanks! For me, sounds like chrome would be great…

So right now my apartment is 74 degrees F, so it's a nice temperate, but I'm a little warm, so I'm a little tacky on my thighs. I just hopped on my chrome pole to test it out and it it is grippy enough to where it I can stick in a pose, but not so grippy that it hurts. It will release your skin if you relese the pose, unlike my brass which just keeps grabbing! It's very nice actually.
