    Hello Pole Divas,

I am quite new and so far did not upload any video mainly because I don't know who to do so. I've tried with webcam but it cuts me either on top or at the bottom. I've also tried with one of my friends' photo camera but still it does not give me the result what I want: full "picture". I would appreciate any advice on how you do your videos and which equipment you use.

I love watching all your videos and being inspired of your progress and my objective is to see myself on video so that I can correct my moves.

    thank you so much. Milena

In my experience it all depends on the wide angle of the camera you're using and the distance the camera is away from the pole of course. But at home you often don't have the space to put the camera a few more metres away from the pole to record.

I have a kinda cheap camera (Sony Cybershot DSC-WX7 with 25mm wide angle) and I can get the whole height of my pole on video if I record it upright. But then the space next to the pole that gets recorded is limited. If the camera is horizontal I can record my floorwork, but only like 1/4 of the pole height.

If I use a more expensive camera (not sure about the technical details, but the wide angle is a lot larger – and it was around 5 times more expensive than mine^^) it's easier to record more space around the pole from the same position of the camera in the room.

If you plan on buying a camera I'd definately pay attention to these technicalities. Before buying mine I tested with the expensive camera how large the wide angle has to be to get the whole pole on video.

Thank you very much, Rose May! You are totally right about the space and the angle. I have to play with the camera depending on what kind of work (pole or floor) I do. I can't afford it for the moment buying an expensive camera but definately the large angle will be considered if I come to that point! Thanks again for your experience!

A couple of more  things to consider:

    1) A tripod.  Is there anywhere you could set the camera up on a short or tall tripod that would give you a wider angle?  My tripod came from Amazon for $8.

    2) A cheap old camera with a wide angle lens.  I did this for a night vision camera project, purchasing a digital camera about ten years old and a wide angle lens for it.  The whole thing cost about $50.

    3) Also, don't forget about lighting.  You should always be lit from the front so that we can see you, and also from the sides or back for "fill".
