new stage
hello I am new to poling and since I only have classes once a week I decided to get a stage so can work in what I learned at home. I know they (xpole) only has two stages but my question is what size pole should i get you know thickness of the pole and what is the best material( what is competition poles made from ex. brass) Don’t want something super slippery but want to compete one day so figured learn on the type of poles thet use. if i am not making any sense sorry i know what i am trying to say just trying to figure out how to write it so everyone else knows haha. Anyways please help want to get stage as soon as I can

Also, most comps have chrome from what I know. I never have seen brass in them.

Hopefully you will get a lot of good advice here. It seems most competition poles in the US are 50mm and Stainless Steel. 50mm Chrome if XPole is the event sponsor. However there is no 'standard' pole that is used across the board for events or venues.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say buy what appeals to you and what you want to use often. My favorite pole is 50mm Stainless Steel, that's my personal preference based on my experience.
When someone is extremely conditioned and comfortable with pole they can do well on different finishes or diameters. Even if it isn't what they would normally use.

thanks for the advise and i love those flowers too lol wasn’t sure cause they had size 48 and such and had read where some people complained of slippery poles. thanks for your help!

Some dancers definitely prefer 45mm, they find it more comfortable for them since it is a smaller diameter. Any pole can be slippery, Chrome does have a bit of a reputation for that. I told myself if I can dance on chrome… I can dance on anything! 😉 Honestly though when I was warm the chrome was fine.
What poles does your studio use? Are there any other studios in your area that you can visit that might have a different finish or diameter? It takes some trial and error to find what you prefer.

I personally got a chrome pole for a few reasons. One, it was the only pole I had experience using in a studio (didn’t want to get a different type of finish if I had no idea how my skin would grip it). Two, I’ve heard chrome is a pretty good basic pole to start out on if you’re not sure. I certainly have good grip days and bad grip days, but overall I am happy with my chrome pole and definitely feel like my grip strength is improving.
I did get a 50mm pole, which I regret a little bit because I second-guessed myself out of getting a 45mm. However, as aforementioned I do see improvement in my ability to grip the pole and my boyfriend always reminds me if I can dance on a 50 I will certainly be able to dance on a 45 someday! Someday I will probably end up purchasing a 45mm but for now I like my 50mm.
