Okay so I'm new at this. Just three months on the pole. Everyone keeps telling me that the burning from being on the pole (inside legs, arms, etc.) will end and that your skin gets used to it. How long does it take? I find that it prevents me from being able to practice because it hurts so bad! I've worked out some of my issues (got medicine to stop hot flashes and Tite Grip-works great so no more slipping) and I find that I am definitely improving. But, I have to get off the pole before I can finish a move! I came home last week and my wrist was actually bloody after practicing Planks. I know what I was doing wrong now so hopefully that won't happen again. I love this workout and am just addicted to it and want to improve. I'm amazed at this workout! I've been athletic all my life and have always exercised and honestly this is THE hardest thing I have ever done! Love it!!!

What kind of pole are you using?  I know that brass tears me up really bad STILL and I have been at this for many years.  I want to say that different moves took longer than others.  Pole sit was not really ever an issue for me but some times I will still get some bruising from inside leg hangs if I am doing a lot of them.

And just beacause I cannot figure this out….how in the world do you get bloody wrists from plank??

Everyone is different, but like Chemmie said, grippier poles can keep doing it. My brass one KILLS me! Smae with powder coated.

I could see how you'd get wrist burn from that! And yes, finish and the temperature/humidity does make a difference. I stick like glue to our powder poles on warm days. I had a girl in one of my classes with bleeding thighs from a cross knee release.

But generally, beyond the effects of pole finish and weather, a lot of the pole burn for your common points of contact will go away over time. Some moves never hurt, some seem to never NOT hurt, and some just take a few weeks/months to get accustomed to. Everyone's a little different.
