I discovered the source of a problem I've been having with my pole since I got it – that it didn't seem to spin freely, but rather had a spot in its rotation where it sort of slowed down a little. I  didn't think much of it because I could still spin easily, and it actually made for a slower spin which I didn't mind so much (sometimes it feels like the pole is trying to throw me onto the floor!). But last night when I set it up I noticed it spun completely around without catching or slowing! The secret seems to be, it has to be 100% completely perfectly level in all directions in order to spin the way it should.

Unfortunately I've been having trouble getting it 100% completely perfectly level. I do use a level to measure it but it seems to be really tough to get it straight in all directions. My floor is carpet, I wonder if that has something to do with it. Tips on how to get it really really really level?

I'd also like to know if anyone else has trouble getting their X-pole to stay in place against a flat ceiling. At my last residence, the ceilings were "stamped" with that spiky circle pattern, giving them texture for the dome to grip against, and I never had problems with it jumping out of place. But the ceilings at my apartment are completely flat, no texture, and twice now I've had it slip (didn't get hurt, though!). I'm sort of afraid to tighten it too far lest I put cracks in a ceiling that I don't technically own – I get nervous when I hear things start to creak and moan. Advice?
