  • Where to learn exotic floor work?? In one place…

I am looking for some place to learn more floor work and names of the moves.  I am in Indianapolis, but would consider driving a reasonable distance.  I particularly want REAL EXOTIC DANCER moves.  Not necessarily with pole..  Can be ONLINE or at a Studio, or a DVD.

Tired of combing thru YouTube for one or two different moves… and no names for them.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

I second the suggestion of Alethea's floorwork dvd. i've really enjoyed learning from it, she shows you how to do the floorwork moves individually, and then shows you a couple routines as examples of how to piece them all together.

Alethea's floorwork DVD is great, and might I also suggest you joining a group on Facebook that I am a part of called Stripper Style.  We all post videos that are of the stripper style aesthetic.  There have been quite a bit of floorwork YouTube videos posted.  As far as the names of moves, that would be lacking.

Is knowing the names of the moves really important to you? I have noticed through my classes and learning things on youtube, and talking with other dancers that a lot of floorwork moves do not have names, or each person doing the move has their own name for it and the move ends up having 5 or more names. Are you needing to know the names because you would be teaching the moves once you have gotten them down? I find that typically real exotic dancer moves have no names and are often the product of just floor dancing a lot, especially when tired from pole work but still having to dance. Ie, go to the source if you dont mind going to strip clubs! 🙂 Especially if you pick things up quickly after seeing them.
