Titanium Gold vs. Brass Xpole
I'm trying to decide between the titanium gold or brass x-pole. I know this is a somewhat subjective question, but I want to know what people would recommend. I love the brass poles I've danced on at work and in studios etc, but I don't know if the removeable xpole will be as sturdy since it's a softer metal. I also haven't been able to find many reviews of the brass xpole, which makes me a little nervous. My biggest problem when it comes to grip is that I have very dry skin. I''m very conscentious about moisturizing daily but my skin still can be so dry at times that it feels almost powdery and makes gripping the pole difficult. I used grip aids that are helpful, but in terms of pole finishes, which do you guys think would be better? I would also definitely love to hear from people who own or have tried the brass xpole.

I have very dry skin and I actually find stainless to be the best for me personally… have you ever tried it? I have never used TG. I'm not really a brass fan, it's too grabby and it seems to "sweat" almost?? I'm not really answering your question here lol but as a dry skinned person I just thought I'd throw it out there lol.
Also corn husker's lotion is AMAZING for grip if you have very dry skin!! It's like magic, seriously.

I have a TG x-pert at home – have only ever used stainless steel and powder coated but I am absolutely loving my TG.
It's just grippy enough and I never feel like i am sliding off it!
Never tried brass though ….

I have a brass x-pole and I do like it. And yes, it is sturdy. As far as grippiness goes, all brass is different depending on brand since brass is an alloy. I've danced on several different brands of brass poles and all the of them had a different feel. As far as which brand to go with, ask what brand your work and studio use, most companies now make removeable poles for home use. That way you know what "feel" of brass to expect when you get your pole.

I find brass to be significantly grabbier than TG, but my skin is no longer dry. I had grip trouble on brass with dry skin. If you have not had overgrip issues with brass, and if you like it, then go with what you know. TG can be grippy, but it still has give to it, so you don't get stuck with skin pulling, which can happen with brass.

Climate also seems to play a bigpart. I live in phoenix with dry hot climate and very dry hands. The rest of me is normal. But I can’t stick to chrome here with any part of my body. If I try to cross knee release, I pretty much fall on my head. Brass works really well for me for me climate. I agree with another user’s suggestion to ask the studio what they use. Seems like your safest bet.

I definitely agree it makes most sense to see what kind they use at work. Unfortunately, i found out that the pole is just a very long copper tube slipped over a steel pipe and bolted to the floor and ceiling. There’s no official maker per se. Despite mixed reviews on the internet, i’ve had good luck with xpole and was going to try their brass xpert. If i hate it, do you think it might be possible to swap it for a TG? I’ve heard they have very good customer service but then again, they’re official policy is that all sales are final unless unopened.

I do not think they would exchange a used pole. Copper should feel similar to brass as brass is an alloy of copper and zinc.

You can get one, then if you do not like it, buy the a and b poles for the other material.

This is a bit off topic but I was wondering, does anyone know if the gold plating on the TG poles ever come off? Kind of like with plated jewellry, how the colour fades over time …so I was wondering since I'm debating on getting a TG as well.

First, it is not plated, it is anodized. Totally different concept. Second, yes, there have been instances where it has worn off. Some people it happens to, some it does not. Veena has had hers for several years and has had no issue. I think the first ones that came out had more issues and XPole has since changed their process.
The pole is ALL titanium so the grip will remain the smae whether the color is there or not. Plating involves putting a thin layer of one metal over a base of another metal. Anodizing involves passing an electrical current through a metal to change its oxidative state so that it reflects a different color. The color is still the same metal.

Another question: anyone know if the free shipping offer on x-poles available through StudioVeena will be extended to include brass anytime soon? (currently the only options are chrome and TG).

It's absolutely perfect for me and I am happy with my decision to go with the brass instead of TG. It has the super-grippy feel that I love, while still allowing me to do spins. My body chemistry just seems to love brass over any other finish. I highly recommend giving it a try. There seem to be some slight manufacturing changes since I purchased my old chrome x-pole about 4 years ago. I am very pleased with the changes and the brass pole is very sturdy, elegant, and incredibly well-made.

Ive used both. If you sweat or live in a humid area go the brass. If your skin is more dry then go the TG.
I love them both you cant really go wrong. I use brass but i need on my legs because thats where my skin is dry. Another thing to consider is that brass can make your hands smell a bit funny from the metal. Hope this helps! X
