    Hi everyone I have came across a new product on the market called fusion for pole fitness (www.fusionforpole.com) and they sell different kinds of protein shakes specifically designed for pole dancers. I was just wondering if anyone had tried these yet and If they were any good/worth the money? Iv never taken a protein shake in my life, I used to think they were only for body builders who spent their life at the gym and wanted to bulk up. Recently iv seen some of my friends who pole and do aerial drink them ( although they haven’t tried fusion for pole yet) and wondered if they are worth it? My diet can be terrible and when I get home from the studio late at night all I want to do is eat bad things. I’m tryIng to watch my weight and wonder if drinking these shakes will help or if I’ll gain weight ( which I don’t want) so far iv ordered 4 sample packs of the stuff in diff flavours so I just need to wait on them being delivered. So any polers out there got any feedback? Xx

    I started using protein shakes about two months ago because I do five strength workouts a week- pole three times and aerials twice- so I felt I probably couldn't get too much protein.  I try to drink them after my workout, because I think that's when they're supposed to be the most beneficial.  As for a drink that's specific to pole, that sounds like just marketing to me.  Any protein shake should do for a poler- we're building muscle just like bodybuilders.  It's important to remember that protein has calories too, and should be counted into your diet like anything else.  Some people say that calories are best consumed toward the beginning of the day (meaning it might not be a good idea to drink it at night), while others say it doesn't matter what time of day you take in calories, just what the total is.  Finally, I totally understand the trouble with snacking at night- it's something I've struggled with for years, and I'm sorry to say the protein shakes haven't changed that much, although I think they have helped me build muscle.

    The biggest thing with protein is finding one that you can stomach the taste of.  There are few mixes that I can drink without issue and most of those are whey isolate.  I see that they offer samples…I would order those before plunking down money for a 1k container.  Protein does you no good if you cannot drink it.

     

    As for recomp, you should try to get protein into your system within 30 minutes after strength training.  That said, I am not sure if you should be dosing creatine at the same time (this is blended in with the fusion protein).  For some reason I thought that creatine and carbs should be prior to training and protein after.  There have been a few articles on nutrient timing that I will try to find and post here.

    Hmmm ok I did have a suspicion that any protein shake would do and that I wouldn’t have to buy a pole related one, as you say it’s just marketing. Well I’m a pole instructor and studio owner I manly teach at nighttime and keep day time for my admin and other business stuff I need to do, so drinking one during the day would prob be a waste of time ? I figure if I have one on the way home after the last class ( instead of a bad snack ) this would help my muscles and be healthier? X

    I am also leery of any protein on the market that does not have an amino acid profile.  Besides taste and cost this is what needs to be looked at, afterall, it is not proteing that helps recomp but the amoni acids that are in the protein.  This is the main reason there are so many protein powders out there…the BCAA profile.  Here is a good article that explains what to look for in a good protein and what the different aminos do:

    Thanks chem! I'll be reading that article.  And you are totally right about the taste- many of them have so much artificial sweetner that it's unpalatable.

    You can also get a non flavored protein powder and make your own shakes with milk (if you don't drink cows milk you can use soy or almond milk) ice and frozen  fruit.

    I use Herbalife meal replacement shake mix with protein powder milk and ice and whatever else I feel like throwing in. I use them because I can't have the artificial sweeteners they put in most of the protein shake mixes unless I want a bad migraine.

    I’m so hacked off with fusion for pole it took me ages to get my last order. Then ages to get a reply about samples and then finally they wanna send me samples but guess what I’m on holidays for 2 weeks so they said they’re ready to go send us a reminder when you get back so I did and another week goes by no reply I give up on them!!

    Also from looking at some of the messages on Facebook it looks like they have been having issues for over a year. Seriously, there are so many companies out there that have made their name in the protein market and have quality products, why jump on a company that was obviously trying to make money by targeting pole people? I don’t see proteins specifically made for gymnasts or cross country runners or weightlifters. This just seems like a gimmick product aimed at pole dancers because they think we are all just dumb females and will buy anything to make us the next Felix Cane.

    LOL. Well, you might be right. I just thought it would be nice to have a “pole” product (would propably sell better at the studio as well). Plus, coconut taste sounds amazing. And I liked that they contain GSM, MSM and omega-3 too.

    I know there’s propably no big difference to other products though.
    Just ordered a sample pack (all 5 flavours in a small amount), we’ll see how long it’ll take to get here.

    Mighty Grip carries the Fusion for Pole line of protein powders but ship of the product is really for the U.S. because of weight. Shipping outside the U.S. is just too expensive to make any sense.

    As Chem already pointed out, taste is probably the most important thing. Some are actually intentionally made disgusting so people think for some reason it is a better quality.

    Most of the whey protein “labels” (manufacturers) actually do not make the protein. They purchase the whey protein, isolate or related products from a dairy company like Davisco or Hilmar Cheese Co. Hilmar will sell to anyone in quantity that wants their own brand of processed whey as well as protein bars or other supplements. Then there are processing companies that will add the fillers, BCAA’s & package it for you which is what most of the brands especially the smaller ones do.
    You should check the serving size for amount of protein. Size by grams and not a scoop which are different for each brand. Some have a lot of fillers with a big scoop for little protein so you buy more product. And you can also get BCAA’s from a separate supplement if needed.

    I have practically lived for the past year off of whey protein shakes, bottles of boost & ensure and (curds & whey) cottage cheese because of being on a very restricted diet. I use Body Fortress whey protein available from Chinamart or Amazon and its very cheap. Because of my health I had to ask my GI doctors at the Mayo Clinic and they said it was complete and as good quality as the more expensive brands. They often have referred me to major namebrand products like my magnesium/potassium so was a bit surprised.

    A lot of the so called “Miracle weight loss supplements” like Visalus are just protein powder with some vitamins.
