    Hello everyone!

     

    I fell on my head and gave myself a concussion, in the process I also gained several large purple bruises and an achey neck and back. All my muscles have spasmed and I'm super tense. 

     

    I've lost sooooo much flexi in a mere week from this incident and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting back into training and relaxing my muscles – I've tried hot baths and starting to foam roller now that I'm a bit less sore. Is there anything else you can suggest?

    Goodness girl, I have been wondering about you! Sorry to hear you hurt yourself. It sounds like you are heading in the right direction. Rest as much as you need, start slow, use your roller, maybe an anti-inflammatory etc.

    I'm good! Just been super busy and had a few health issues!

    I miss you too dear. Maybe we can meet up and stretch or something. Since I am guessing you aren't poling yet! I have been super busy too and have lost a bit of strength and endurance. Been off the pole more than off since spring 🙁 Hoping to get back to normal soo!

    It's so good you seem to be willing to take your time and heal properly. I highly recommend massage therapy (neuromuscular therapy or trigger point work) because tt sounds like you need some really muscle-specific work; which is more than what a foam roller can offer you.  Or, acupuncture.  And then, perhaps, begin with @Veena's conditioning & stretching exercises.

    I recently recovered from a really bad shoulder injury.  I was off the pole for 8 months.  But I'm constantly awed at how resilient our bodies are.  Full injury recovery simply requires patience and compassion with our bodies and ourselves.  Good luck on your journey back!

    I second the massage therapy. I get one after my toughest practices when I end up the most sore and I find that it really cuts my healing time and gets me back on the pole.
