Hello from a new member
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello, and maybe make some local pole friends? (fingers crossed).
I am originally from NJ (born and raised) but recently had to relocate to Delaware due to my husband's job. That meant moving away from NJ and the studio where I learned to pole. I had a fabulous experience there and definitely got bitten by the pole bug! Unfortunately, northern Delaware isn't exactly a hot bed for pole fitness. The closest studio that I would feel comfortable attending classes is over an hour away. I just couldn't get myself motivated for the drive each week. That's when my friend from NJ told me about Studio Veena. I had browsed the free parts of the website before, but it was on her recommendation that I finally joined the full site. I'm so happy I did! I love how structured the program is. I'm excited to go through the lessons and make progress.
I purchased a chrome 50mm X-Pert from my instructor in NJ, and I have it set up in my home office (I work from home… sadly, I don't get to just stay home and pole all day). It's tough to go from a studio environment to being a home poler, but I have to say that I feel like the quality of instruction here is as good and maybe even superior to the classes I've taken. I have already caught myself doing lots of the things that Veena demonstrates in the little "WRONG" box… it usually makes me crack up to realize that she's doing a perfect imitation of me. If you ever need someone to demo the wrong way to do something… call me.
My biggest pole challenges are probably grip strength + slipping, flexibility, and not hyperextending my shoulders. What I love about pole dancing is how graceful and beautiful it makes me feel. I did martial arts for 10 years, and while it made me strong and fearless, it wasn't exactly the most feminine of hobbies. I've always been a tomboy, and pole dancing has introduced me to the wonderful world of glittery shoes, cute outfits, and being sexy as well as strong. 🙂 My favorite aerial trick is probably the superman or the butterfly, and my favorite spin is the side spin. I'm also working on the Couch to 5K running plan to whip my butt into better cardio shape. Let me know if you are too. 🙂
Anyway, I'm looking forward to being a part of this community and being inspired by you all!
