    Hello,

I need advice … I plan on getting the 1 year membership and starting the lessons. Please help me to figure out what to do first. I need to lose about 20 lbs .. Buy a pole … And get flexible . Once apon a time I took gymnastics and could do the splits , but now I’m I’m my fortys and three kids later, I’m not flexible at all : (
I want to look sexy again and learn how to pole dance – you all look so in shape and graceful and sexy all at once ! Sooooo do I lose the wieght and then get the pole? Start yoga to get flexy so I’m ready when the pole is here???? Please help 🙂

Buy yor pole and the weight loss and flexy will come, as long as u stick w it. I am 45 and started a little over a year ago after being bed ridden for a few months with Lyme disease. I have also got my splits first time in my life. Pole will give u confidence and make u look sexy as well. Good luck, and look forward to your first video.

    here's what to do 🙂

    1- buy veenas lessons

    2-buy a pole

    3- have fun!

seriously that is all there is to it…. the beauty of pole dancing/fitness is that you don't have to already be flexible or muscular or any of that to start. it all comes as you go along and learn. alot of us on here are not dancers/gymnasts (as in, didn't do dancing or gymnastics or anything like that before this) and it doesn't stop you at all! besides some people are stronger whereas others are more flexible, or some people rock out the stripper heels and sexy moves whereas others just use pole for tricks in a sports bra… everyone is different and dont feel you have to be a certain way or a certain level to do it 🙂 and there's lots of moms in their forties here as well!

    welcome!

Hi, I started poling at home 2 years ago when I was 46, I didn't worry about losing weight first, girls of all shapes and sizes pole, I still need to lose weight but pole keeps me fit.  I do my flexibility along side my pole training and I also walk and cycle 4 miles a day to my youngest daughter school, I would say get the pole and if you get Veena's lessons, I belive there are loads of conditioning excercises and stretches to get you ready to pole, just go for it and you'll just get slimmer and fitter anyway.  Good luck 🙂

Anyone can learn to pole dance!!! I didn't start until a few week before I turned 30. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif There are so many amazing dancers on this site that are over 40 and LOT'S of moms!

The girls have great suggestions! The lessons here are in order so you don't have to worry about trying to figure out what to do next. You don't even need a pole to get started, many of the lessons for conditioning and flexibility do not require a pole. There is a Pole Strength Routine in the Beginner section that is a great workout. If you have questions on a lessson you can leave me a message on the video and I'll get back to you with help https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Pole is amazing full body workout, it really is. And I second what all the other beautiful ladies are saying. I am a strong believer in proper nutrition. The secret is that 80% of weight loss is from proper nutrition. Pole will sculpt your body and build your self confidence, proper nutrtion will help you be able to emerge from your cocoon so everyone (but most importantly yourself) can see the work of art that you have shaped through pole. I know sometimes just the words " proper nutrition" sounds like a incoming headache. But it does not have to be as complex as sometimes the industry can make it some of the suggestions that I give my clients are:

Proper plating: Eat half a plate of vegetables at major meals. Even if you are mixing in some vegtables with your meal, still devote at least half a plate to vegetables. Protein should be about the size of your palm and about 1 cup ( or 2 handfuls of starches). Really vegetables are the most important part and a good place to start with proper plating. Too many changes too fast can be hard but vegetables are a good starting point.

Print out a monthly calender.Select 3 goals. i.e. taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work, only eating vegetables (and some fruits) after 7pm, etc. write these goals on all the days of your calendar. At the end of every night put a checkmark next to all the goals that you accomplished for the day. Then at the end of the month take a look at your calendar, look at the days that you were able to accomplish the tasks and re-evaluate.

I hope this helps! Welcome to the world of pole, this is a amazing community and I know you will love this experience! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Of course you can! I started my pole journey in my 50’s. As a result of poling, I have become interested in other similar forms of exercise, as well as nutrition, to help me to be a better poler. There is a group on Facebook for us older ladies “The Grand Dames”. The pole community is very supportive, and I have made lots of pole friends on my journey. Go for it! It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done!

I played on a cheapy pole for about a year off and on just cuz I wanted to be sexy like other girls… lol  I know….. I'm 43 no splits, not real flexible, I thought I was hella fit from lifting weights.  I bought the Xpole and started to get serious watching the videos on the site (no classes). I started practicing the moves I saw other girls and realized I was not so fit after all!!  Actually just started Veena's classes and everything I thought I knew… well it's falling into place now.  Thanks Veena

Hi there. I am 39… will be 40 next month with kids, would like to lose
20-30 lbs and just the pole about
2 mos now … so im new to both poling & Veena. I agree with the girls and everyone is amazing here. I started about a week ago asking everyone “Is it required to attend a studio for poling” & the responses gave me more encouragement to do the pole without the pressures of attending a studio because the surprising amount of responses from awesome women with flexibility here have watched videos and Veena & looking at them you would think they had to attend the studio in order to become so good. Honestly, my learning experience at the studio was extremely minimal because I had difficulty seeing what the instructor was doing and everything was going way too fast for me, so I left thinking I wouldn’t be able to learn poling. The instructor was awesome, but with the class being mixed with all levels, it was a struggle for me especially since I had very minimal knowledge of grips and spins. With that being said, I decided to begin Veena’s lessons and its amazing. I am learning without the pressures of having to try keeping up with the class. I can watch the lessons continously and I have the ability to move on to the next lesson when I’m ready. I am so happy that I found this site which has given me the encouragement of knowing that I can advance in the skill of poling and everyone here to cheer

I'm like Lyme. I just started my pole journey about 9 months ago at 47. I will be 48 next month. I have had lots of physical limitations, but I do not let those stop me. I can still do plenty, and it's the most fun I've ever had while exercising. It is a great outlet to just let your mind and body feel whatever it wants to and you get the added bonus of sculpting your body, losing weight, and gaining renewed confidence that may have waned over the years. Go for it!

i highly suggest you get veena's lessons.  since you are in your forty's ( which is awesome, i'm right behind ya at 37, almost 38!) we aren't as rubbery as younger polers and bouncing back doesn't always happen 🙂

veena's lessons will show you stregth training stuff that will prep your body for pole work- which can be really tough on the bones, muscles, and joints.  veena's lessons also show you how to not hurt yourself.  the lessons are very comprhehnsive and easy to understand.

Hi welcome to studio veena! And ofcourse you can do this @ your age! I’m 40 w/3 kiddos & hope to still be poling for as long as possible (into my 50s i hope), I love it!

I agree that Veenas lessons are great…even though i currently go to a studio, i think veenas lessons are better structured, broken down/explained better than i get in studio lessons.

Also the positive support, friendships & advice the ladies here give is bar none.

So dont be shy, get on the pole & get started!
