    hi everyone!

I am doing my pole dancing research as i am desperate to learn this amazing fitness dance trend! I was wondering how everyone first found pole dancing? was it super super difficult? i have heard stories about being bruised and it being painful. i am going to buy a pole and dvd classes as there are no lessons near me. i'm loving everyone's videos – even when u fall or are still practising – it makes me want to do it even more knowing everyone here is still brushing up their dancing! x

My sister bought a pole and introduced me to it. Yes it is hard and u will get many of bruises. I would recommend buying lessons here rather than a CD. There is hours of lessons on here, more than u will ever get in a few CDs. Good luck!

Hi and Welcome! I've had pole dancing in the back of my mind for YEARS. I had never tried it or seen anyone do it in person but I would hear certain songs and see myself pole dancing to it in my mind lol. It's not until May of this year I decided to do some research on it and that's how I found Studio Veena. I still haven't tried pole dancing yet because I'm saving up for my X pole (I prefer to learn at home rather than a studio) but I have been practicing my floorwork and flexibility to prepare myself for it. I'm learning a lot from this wonderful community and Veena is super sweet and really good at answering and following up on any questions you might have.

    thank you girls!

i am going to save up for an x-pole too as i was almost about to buy one for £70 from where i work.. turns out these are notoriously bad ones. so saving up is the way forwards!

i can see myself enjoying the exercise of the pole, as i am finding myself in a rutt and want to become stronger/flexable and leaner. i am also about to join a gym too. so watch out pole! here i come!

Hi ๐Ÿ˜€ Welcome to the site. Im sure you will be a fellow pole-addict as soon as you get your own pole!

Smart move with saving up! I bought an electra pole at first, but when I set it up, I saw that my floor lamp was actually more stable (no kidding!) So I ordered the xpole after that. Like Lyme said, this is really a great place to learn. You have so many great lessons here and you can always ask Veena when in doubt – or others on this site. Everyone is very supportive! You wont get that from a cd. I hope to see more from your pole journey soon ๐Ÿ˜€

Hey and Welcome!!! Well, I’m sort of in the same situation as Lotus! I’ve always wanted to try pole for years, but never tried until this year May as well! I went to my first pole studio n have been hooked ever since! Although I don’t have my own pole yet either, I’m saving up for a new x-pole. In the meantime, I’m searching for deals on craigslist. When I do get my pole, I will def be at Studio Veena for my pole lessons, as I prefer to learn pole in my home. Anyway, u will def love it here! As everyone said, Veena is very sweet n very helpful n her site is great! N everyone here is VERY supportive n kind! I look forward to seeing u aroundรฎยโ€” Once again Welcome to StudioVeena!

thanx again! i can already tell i'm going to love it here!

i know two girls who do pole dancing and they both love it and make it look so easy. i just hope that i don't quit on it as i am ridiculous when it comes to diets/exercise/routine.

also, does anyone know..to gain access to the lessons on this site there is a fee.. does it matter that i am from the UK? the prices are in dollars.

I'm excited to start learning and practising! does anyone feel that they started off like me- completely untrained, untoned, unflexable and lazy bum and they still got along ok with the basics and moved onwards with time?

I think you will find that a very high percentage of members here were (and still are) in the same boat as you. Some are older (like me) and hadn't had a proper workout in years. Some are uncomfortable with their weight, some have little or no flexibility, some have chronic pain/medical limitations, some love to stuff their faces with pizza on a daily basis. The fabulous thing about pole is that you can do whatever you feel comfortable with and still get some major benefits. Take your time, listen to your body, and follow the lessons here. Everone progresses differently. Be patient and just have fun! I will let someone else answer the question about the fee, but I do know that you can sign up no matter what country you live in.

hi and welcome from a fellow UK poler! I started pole in January this year always fancied giving it a go but never seemed to get round to it lol. I didnt do any sort of exercise before pole and had two kids so wasnt in the best shape but can honestly say pole has changed my figure starting was the best thing i have ever done. I go to a studio once a week but also have my own poles at home. It is a hard journey but deffo worth every bruise lol x

Hi 2little2late! I'm from the UK and the lessons work fine ๐Ÿ™‚ it's all done through paypal so it automatically converts to £ and takes it from your bank through paypal – it's super easy to set up & cancel too!

    Hey there *waves*,

Another uk girly here. I would really recommend the lessons here to build your strength. My first class (at my studio) I was aching for most of the week after and was black and blue. I have my pole at home now and go to class and I love it. I still look a little silly and it is tough but I love doing it!

Looking forward to hearing your progress!

Imo I would go to a term at your local studio first to get a feel of it and learn the basics of good pole practice and then if you want you can teach yourself/lessons online. I always believe face to face tuition at some point in your pole journey will open your eyes to things you may not neccessarily learn by yourself (different points of views etc)

I have been learning for 4 years and went to classes by myself the whole time. I decided 1 day to get toned and someone at work said their friend did pole and got really fit so I found a local studio, signed up and 4 years later I still go to pole jams at the studio. Don't be afraid to go to lessons by yourself, you will quickly meet new friends and everyone is usually at the same level at you/complete beginners.

The bruises and pain just comes as part of the package though it does lessen with time due to repetition of moves. You will come to love these pole 'kisses' hehe and no matter how advanced you are, you will always get bruises – I still get bruises from climbing too much lol

I would defo recommend going to a studio to try it out before you spend ร‚ยฃ150 on a pole. Pole is an exciting and addictive but frustrating journey and personally I think I would have given up if I had been working at it from home alone. Even with the support of SV!
Good luck with you journey, don’t get too hung up on progressing quickly, take your time and learn to do things correctly and safely the first time and you will progress faster in the long run.
If I had the net I would totally get SV lessons. She is an excellent tutor.
You will be sore and bruised but there is nothing better than nailing a move and as we say no pain no gain ๐Ÿ™‚
