I would agree with videoing ever practice. Even if you are just mucking around film yourself this is three fold –
1, if you do something amazing (or hurt yourself) you can see what you did.
2, just because you nailed it in your head doesn't mean you did. by reviewing your work you'll see when you are jumping into a move, not pointing toes and all the other things your mind edits out (making you a more polished performer)
3, by recording all the time you will get used to seeing yourself on film making it easier to watch, making you less self concious and therefore a better performer.
If you want to edit your films I use Window's live movie maker which has enough to do basic editing.
