  • Stability of the X-Pole using the dome vs. semi-permanent mount

Pole newbie here so please bear with my newbie questions. 🙂  I recently purchased and installed the x-pole x-pert using the dome in my lower level dining area.  I am getting ready to relocate the pole into the guest bedroom upstairs once I successfully eliminate all the furniture (sorry future guests; that's now the poooooole room 🙂  Before I do, I have a few questions.

    – My dining area is 7'9" and that already feels very low and the future pole room's ceilings are 7'4".  Does anyone else "enjoy" poling with ceilings this low?  I have another room option with a 15'+ ceiling and could put a stage there.  Any opinions on whether or not you would prefer a mounted pole with short ceilings or a stage?

    – I feel insecure about the stability of the pole using the dome.  It is correctly placed under the joist but the pressure has caused some nails along the joist to pop (They haven't pierced through the drywall and paint, but you can see they've bulged).  As a result, I'm hesitant to put any more pressure on the joist although I always feel like there is very slight movement in the pole and question it's stability.  Does anyone think I might be better off to just re-install the pole in the new room using the semi-permanent mount instead?

    – My pole is titanium gold but the X-pole website looks like they only sell the mount in the chrome color. Am I missing another option on the website?

My biggest concern is obviously the stability and safety of the pole.  I'm at the point where I feel like every move I make is gingerly executed because I just don't trust the installation.  Can anyone relate?

    Thank you ladies!

7'4" is very short for poling however I would not even consider a stage pole for home use.  They are great for performances however there is so much floorwork type stuff that you simply cannot do with them.

As for the stability of the pole with teh dome…you really do not have to worry about this.  Check your pole before each use with a good tug near the top.

The perm mount really is not visible once it is installed so the color really does not matter.

Chemgoddess – thank you!  One of the places I take classes has stages and I dislike them for the very reason you mention, floorwork.  That confirms that decision for me.

I didn't realize that the mount wouldn't be visible once installed.  I think that's the route I'm going to take and just deal with my very low ceilings….

    Thanks again!

I may be incorrect in that.  I just looked again and you probably will be able to see a bit of it but it really will not be that noticeable.  You can also probably paint over the section that shows with nail polish (as long as you do not get it on the bearing).

I went back and looked at the mount again as well.  I guess maybe I could spray paint it so long as I'm very careful with just spraying the surface area.

But then again, at the end of the day I'm far less concerned about aesthetics than I am with safety.  I think having the mount will just make me feel more comfortable.

    Thanks again for your thoughts!
