I haven't posted in a while because I haven't really made any progress lately.  The question I'm struggling with is: how on earth do you get to the point where you can do a deadlift?  I've been trying the SG ayesha deadlift, which is a lot like the SG lift into an extended butterfly, but instead of putting your foot on the pole, you "simply" rotate your whole body over into an ayesha.  I've been trying the twist off climb, too, which includes a version of this; you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ6pUtHIJm8

The problem is, I just can't do it without cheating by putting my foot on the pole.  It's obviously a strength issue, but I also just can't grasp the rotation part: how on earth do you get up and over yourself without pivoting on your foot?

If anyone knows what kind of conditioning I could be doing for this, I would be eternally grateful.  I can already do 40 pull-ups, something like 100 sit-ups, and I'm training down my back planche, iron X, etc., yet I'm still not buff enough to pull this off.  WTF?

I have no idea dude. I just watch split grip lifts in awe. I can hold a full Iron X no problem and I'm pretty close to a true or twisted grip lift.

I'm just talking out of my butt here, but I imagine there would be a  "push out" action required like in a cradle to butterfly/SG handspring/Marion Amber, where you have to really slide that bottom arm down as you're pushing out to get your torso vertical.

There’s a weird push-pull thing that needs to happen. The bottom arm is bent and pushes up while the top arm and your obliques need to engage super hard to keep your outside hip from falling out and away from the pole. The more horizontal you get your upper body, the easier also…. If you can nail the transition from cradle/advanced jamilla to superman, keeping your legs straight the entire time, you’ll get how low you have to drop your head.
