Hello to everybody on the forums, I am from Maryland and have been poling off and on for about 9 years now I guess. I did have an almost 5 year hiatus in the midst of that but like anything a person truly enjoys you always find your way back to it eventually! I have never posted on a forum before so I guess I'll tell you a bit about myself.

I am 29 years old and painfully shy to the point of sporadic agoraphobic fits (sometimes I can't leave my house) I am prone to panic attacks and am not so great at social interactions in general. I do however absolutely love to dance. When I am on my pole I can shut out everything around me and just feel a complete connection to my inner energy and all the positive energies around me. Yeah, yeah I know how fruity that sounds and I'm ok with it 🙂 I would love to one day compete simply for the sake of performing (for some reason I can get up in front of any audience and perform but I fail miserably at everyday interactions lol) although I simply do not have a competitive bone in my body and it seems silly to go through all the hoopla of a comp simply to not even try to win. I am psyched by how far poling has come since I fell in love ( I remember stumbling across KT Coates on her vertical dance site before xpole lol) and am looking forward to see how it progresses in the future.

Geez, I wasn't expecting to write a novel. I do apologize! Anyway, I am excited about finally joining a community for poling and wanted to thank everybody for all the wealth of knowledge and support I have seen across the forums here! I look forward to contributing what I can as well 🙂

So glad you posted Julianan!  I am glad you can "loose yourself" in dance.  This is a huge first step doing a blog, so try to work on another step when your ready and post a video!  Cant wait to see more of you, your dance style, the kind of music you use…..etc.

You are in a safe place here, and will get a ton of support.  WELCOME!

YAY Another MD'er.  Welcome to SV.

Its amazing how pole becomes therapy for us huh?  I get pretty bad anxiety and its so bad I just dont want to leave my house days on end.  Pole/working out is what helps me break out of my rut.  One day id love to kick the anxiety in its face and go back to who I used to be, but its gonna take some time.
