Here are my classic woes that don't seem to be changing for me or getting any better as time rolls on with my pole training…

First I'll start with a question: Why is it still hard for me, after almost 2 years of poling, to get a good solid knee pit grip for my Gemini? I am strong enough for things such as your basic inverts (my strongest and most controlled is via shoulder mount) and I can climb with no problem but I can't seem to get the pole to stay just right inside of my knee pit. Any thoughts?

Here are my own theories: My calf and thigh muscles are sort of large which I thought might be a hinder to my progress. Also, the pole that I work on is a 50" or 55" mm size pole and I thought that maybe it was that I'm working on a larger sized pole. If anyone has any ideas based on the info I provided please enlighten me.

My other issues to discuss are the frequent bruising I experience especially with climbing. Does this ever subside? Am I doing it wrong? I can't seem keep from bruising and was wondering if anyone else out there who have been poling for a while still experience this issue.

If you could post a video of yourself doing the Gemini that would be helpful. Holding a Gemini isn't about strength but rather positioning. However, you do need a strong invert to bring the Knee PIt leg, far enough over the hands. Have you ever taken a took at the lesson here for the Gemini? It's shown from several angles and leg positioning is worked on from the ground first.

I think I've watched most of your lessons (especially the Gemini) at least a hundred or so times. I've gotten much better at most things because of them. I feel comfortable letting go and just about a month or so ago was the first time I've been able to since I started pole but I feel as though I'm missing something crucial. I will try to record myself doing it and post it up within the next few days or so. Also, I looked at the blog about bruising but I doesn't really answer my questions on it. I know what a bruise is and how to treat it I just wasn't sure if there was a way to do poling while avoiding them; rather, are bruises unavoidable? Like do you still get them? I get them pretty bad on my shins from climbing and my inner thighs any time I want to do a superman spin. This last one I got was so bad I thought I would have to take myself up to the doctors office to look at. But then it started to heal up pretty fast so I'm not really worried about it anymore. Do you still get leg bruising? I also get them bad on the tops of my feet when I'm caterpillar climbing; is that normal?

Yeah I still get bruises! Another possibility is that you need more iron in your diet, but, I still find black and blue marks everywhere, especially when I take a week for two off and start up again.

Try to do a video for us with several angles…or if you have a webcam I can meet you in the chat room some time and we can take a look at your Gemini.

I've recently discovered an essential oil that really helps with bruising (and sprains, strains, contusions), called Helichrysum.  It's pricy, but it seems to work – it has to be diluted in massage oil before being applied, and it heals bruises in days instead of weeks.  Buying it diluted is a lot cheaper than buying it full strength.

I haven't had much success with arnica, but a lot of people report positive results with arnica for their bruises and sprains/strains.

Bruising : Arnica Montana. Pill or cream/gel. I got it at a health store, then for cosmetic surgery. High grade at plastic surgeon’s office. Which anyone (in our area) can buy anytime, whatever reason. High grade so much better.
I like the bruises at times, I show friends saying pole dancing is sexy- see?! Then to boyfriend – I’m so sore rub me more. Proof. But when I get pedi’s I want them gone and use Arnica
