    Hello

I was practising head stands against the pole in class last night for the first time and when I woke this morning I noticed little red dots at the side of my head on my forehead.  They don't hurt and I can't feel them and they are tiny.

Is this usual?  I read on a yoga website it is because of the blood vessels and blood going to the head?

I did about 8 headstands in total in about 30 mins?

    Any advice appreciated!

    Thank you

    Claire

    Next time breathe!

On a side note of TMI….I used to get these during sex when I was trying to be quiet.  Usually all over my eyelids.

That happened to me when I first started inverting. Little dots all around my eyes. Like Cham said, it's from holding your breath.

I remember getting those little dots under my eyes when I started doing headstands.  They disappeared quickly , and  I no longer get them through headstands, handstands etc but I do get them when  I throw up, although I've never checked my eyes after sex lol  😉

It’s called petechiae. It happens when pressure rises in the faces and, yes, capillaries rupture causing what are basically tiny bruises. Some people are more susceptible. I get petechiae whenever I throw up, have a sneezing fit, or forget to relax my face when upside down. It’s not a major problem at all, it goes away quickly. It just looks silly! One time I had it so bad I looked like I had freckles! Just try to relax and breathe, try not to tense up. Hopefully it will stop happening every time.

I get what looks like bruises on my temples, and some spots on my forehead. Frustrating! It only started happening after a session practicing elbow stands, but now it happens more often in any inverted position. Mostly the advice I've gotten is just to breathe, but it doesn't always seem to help…
