Contact local pawn shops and also the local police.  If a pawn shop knows a piece is stolen they will get it back for you.  Send a picture of the rings to all shops within a radius you think this person would travel.  If indeed theya re a junkie and looking for quick money they are not going to travel far.

I hate to even say this, but if they are a junkie, they are no ones REAL friend. They need help. A junkie will steal from their own parents. I had an experience like this once. They lie and steal and you can not trust them, believe anything they say, or be friends w them. They need a good program. One that is at least a yr long. There is no full recovery in a week.

Working in jewelry, I here this a lot. Notifying the police and making a police report is important. From what I have heard, they will inform local pawn shops and gold buying places. Make sure they do, if not, follow Chemie's advice and let local pawn shops, jewelry stores that buy gold, and gold buying places know, within reason. I am so sorry this happened to you, there are few things more maddening than having your trust broken. Good luck!
