I want to make a slideshow to promote my pole photography and put it on youtube and have a particular song in mind that I’d like to use. Now I’m just wondering if anyone knows under what circumstances you can use music from other artists?

I know obviously there are copyright issues and as a photographer I couldn’t respect that more, but are you allowed to use music if your credit the artist? I’ve seen on YT that it will often say who the song is by and says you can buy it from Itunes but i’ve also seen where it has not allowed the music that the person has on their video.

Most people on YT obviously haven’t got permission from the artists to use the music, particularly big musicians, because if you did no one would be able to use any music but is it ok to use if you add the itunes link thing?

I haven’t got a video to upload on YT yet so this will be my first one so I’m not sure of the rules and regulations

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

when they are uploading your video to YT, they are scanning both your audio and video. Just to make sure you didnt steal it from somewhere. If YT catches your audio, they will send you an email telling you who owns that song officially. Its 50/50 if you get to keep your music. If they let it go, thats when the info comes up in the videos where you can buy the song. Sometimes they will mute your audio. There are many videos that show you how to get your audio back. What I also started doing was putting in the info page something about copyrighting not intended. Ive seen alot of folks starting to do that now.

    HTH!

hi, i was just looking for info about this..  i have a few videos on youtube but would like to add more.  however, i get the notices about copyright violation, and that i could have my channel shut down, be sued, etc.  it's confusing because there are a million vids on youtube that have mp3's and i doubt many of those people have purchased the rights to the music.  any advice?

tarah I've just tried to avoid the whole thing bvy using music by people I know. I've emailed DJ's and singers who are trying to get themselves noticed and want the exposure so it's mutually beneficial 🙂 Youtube is a great way to get music heard and everyone I've asked so far has been happy to provide their music for my pole vids. I always put their website/name/song title etc on the actual video as well

Saves battling with copyright and as I'm a photographer, I want to avoid ripping peoples music -I don't want my photos to be stolen and used without permission so I try to play fair 🙂
