I've been poling for 3 months now and rock climbing for 1 + years, I recently bought a pole and due to all of my excitement I hurt my shoulder and back within the first week of receiving my pole.  Because of the pain i've been trying to keep my upper body exercises to a minimum, but 1.5 weeks later I am still experiencing pain.

Did anyone else experience this?  If so how long did your body need to rest?  Where there any exercises that helped your condition?  If anyone has any tips on how I can get back on the pole faster, that would be great 😀 !

I think the main reason I hurt my back was from practicing too many basic inverts and inverted-v and trying not to kick into the move. The shoulder injury is probably rock climbing related.

Even for those in shape pole can be very stressful on the body and its so easy to get carried away with learning. It's just so fun!!! I always suggest pole dancing every other day when starting, this can help prevent overuse injury.

If you are interested I have many exercises in the lessons here that will strengthen and condition every part of your body for pole. Also the lessons here are placed in an order that enables you to build strength first, allowing for safer and faster progress. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Avoid working on inverts until you're feeling better and have done some conditioning for the back and shoulders.
