Ok…so for some reason I can't do this move!! I know my instructor is getting very fustrated with me cause I can't do this….I'm so scare to do it….yet I can invert in both sides and do crazy stuff upside down.  I have also tried handstands but that on is worst.  Any tips on how to make this move easier and less scary? Even the girls in Intro class are doing this!!!

    As always, videos help.

I always started people on the wall.  They require a ton of core strength so maybe even working on controlled yoga plows will help you.

What worked for me was doing lots of controlled "kick ups." From either a headstand or handstand position, pick up your feet from the ground as far as you feel comfortable, and hold them there as long as you can. Continue to do little kick ups like this for as long as you need to. It will help to build the core strength and wrist/forearm strength you will need. Another option is working on crow stands. They are more difficult, but for me they felt less scary from an inversion standpoint. You can start crow stands by putting a yoga block under your feet and gently tipping forward.

I have been poling for 4 years and still kick up. I have core strength. The way they always seem to float up has always been black magic to me.

I can invert and hang upside down like nobody's business, but I don't do headstands or handstands. I can drop from an Inverted Crucifix and do a handstand with a booty wiggle, but that's about it. I have a huge aversion to them. First, I have a long history with wrist injuries and I know how much pressure handstands put on them. I also have pins in my head, so headstands will never happen. I do see lots of ladies start against the wall and move their feet as close to their head as possible before tucking the knees up and extending the feet. If I could physically do either of these, that's how I would do it. Take your time. You don't have to be able to do everything!! Plenty of awesome moves out there…

Also, you should not be doing HEAD stands but rather HAN stands or Elbo stands. Your head should NOT be touching. I just watched Veena's lesson for this.

Hmm..it'd help if post a vid. One of the breathroughs I had with these was finding my center/tipping point. In a headstand position instead of kicking up, I began "walking" my toes  as close to my body as possible, allowing for hips to line up with my shoulders. From there I would tilt my pelvis back ever so slightly until my feet are juuust hovering off the ground. Then you get to the point where you can have them about 1 foot off the ground. From there you find your balance by tucking in your legs and bringing them in line with hips and shoulders. Did that make sense?haha

Head/hand/elbow/shoulder stands all take a LOT of core strength and balace. Practice practice!

    P.s. Post a vid 😉

Here are some of my elbow/headstand vids:
