Can anyone give any  pointers on spinning pole. I have pretty much tried everything staring at the pole, spotting, and nothing seems to work. I have about a two spin minimum and then all hell breaks loose. I even get dizzy when I am driving  around on ramps for the freeway. Is there just no hope for me?

I think you were taking the lessons so I'm guessing you've seen this video? Tips for Spinning pole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtinAzp17s0&list=UUup79MtZnWP_SCAHeVlmzdQ&index=8&feature=plcp

After I've been off the spinning pole for a while it takes me a few sessions to acclimate! Keep at it. Try a little every time you pole, do it at the end of you session so you don't end up too dizzy or sick to practice lol. Stay upright the first few sessions, don't invert right away. I never spot or look at the pole, I just let my eyes wonder. Do a few holds, then move on to floorowork or something non spinning. Then go back to do a few more passes on spin. Little bits at a time work great for me. I get sick feeling when I start using my yoga hammock the first few times too, because of the motion. LOL I does get better, keep at it!!

Come see me in Vegas and we'll work on it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Yes I signed up for the lessons here I must have overlooked it. I normally stay away from spin mode, but I decided to put my big girl panties on and try it. I felt like crap after !! LOL….I do want to come to Vegas for some classes ! I am just so mad that I didn't know ya when I lived there! 🙁 I am hoping to come out sometime late December.

I haven't tried my hand at spin mode yet but I DO get dizzy just doing normal basic spins! When I first started poling I had to sit down after doing only a few spins. While you do get used to it after a while, getting less dizzy the more you do it, I found that eating crystalized ginger TOTALLY helps me! You can buy a bottle at your local specialized spice or supplement stores. I pop a small handful into my mouth just after my warm up before I get on the pole. I highly recommend it!

As someone who gets motion sick in a vehicle very easy, the spin pole use to scare the hell out of me. It felt simply unnatural.  BUT….giving it a go little by little each class i got use to it. Sure, i get dizzy if i do to much or if it throws me into a warp spin of doom. I have grown an amazing overall tolerance to it. I take breaks inbetween to "unwind" and do the best i can to make it go at a decent {not warped} speed.  if my stomach flops at any point i give it a break for the day. Like all things in pole, baby steps.
