Just ordered an Xpole – What do I need to know?
Posted by NonFlexy on December 8, 2012 at 12:37 pmI just bought an Xpole Xpert Chrome 45mm, very excited! What do I need to know when installing it? I know a lot of people mention to make sure you clean it, don't over tighten, etc. Would love your advice!
Also, how do I know if I am over tightening in. When is enough, enough?
What do you use to clean your pole? We use alcohol in my studio on our xpoles, but I heard that you aren't supposed to do that, and use glass cleaner instead?

You'll be able to tell if it's overtightened if it doesn't spin freely and smoothly on spin mode.
And I always clean the pole with alcohol as I find it works best, but I've heard of people using vinegar, acetone, Windex, vodka, special pole cleaners… lol. I like to use the cherry scented alcohol from beauty supply stores! Trick I picked up from another woman who used to own our studio 🙂 Smells fantastic, much more so than any other thing you could use to clean the pole lol

The top adapter will come attached to an extention, you will need to use a broom to knock it out in order to use another extention. Do not hit the top adapter with a hammer when trying to get it into an extention, it will make it out of shape and won't fit into the dome– happening to me today. Make sure you level the pole when putting it up. I put my alcohol in a spray bottle. Happy poling!

Use a stability board to evenly distribute pressure. And always put your pole on a stud if you can.

Yep if it’s too tight it won’t spin well. Try cleaning it with a fabric steamer to get all of the manufacturing junk off. It works really well. You MUST put the pole under a stud/joist. Alcohol will not hurt your pole, windex will not harm it either. Some ppl have issues with windex on their skin though.

I fear if I used vodka to clean my pole, I would just ended up licking it, so I use rubbing alcohol instead!
Watch the Xpole Xpert assembly video on youtube (it may also be posted somewhere here). Watching it made the installing much easier than following the written directions for me.

i would suggest ordering or finding extra screws… in case they get stripped

I use rubbing alcohol with a micro cloth. It will be very slick when in it’s new so make sure to clean it very well before use.

Yeah I wish I had known about cleaning all the manufactor wax off, I couldnt do anything on my pole for weeks because I didnt clean it with anything first. DOH!!

If you have a dedicated pole room, I took down the ceiling fan so my Xpole could be in the center with nothing in the way. It was great when I was in a house with that awful popcorn ceiling, because under where the fan had been was a smooth area the size of the dome.
