Very pretty.  How does that think keep spinning?  From you or is there a motor thing on top?

Beautiful! Could one technically get the same moves with this Flygym thing? It seems to have a similar setup (though not quite as long…)

There is a swivle at the rigging point that allows you to spin but no motor –  it is all from centrifical force…just your body inertia…this is actually one of our students – AND it was her first day 🙂

the Flygym is very cool for stretching/trx/pilates, pole uses and aerial yoga https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif but not quite set up for true Aerial Hammock – I am sure some of the poses we do in hammock would translate over but a lot would not (drops etc) in general the flygym isn't really set up for hammock, the flygym is much shorter, a differnt material and rigged differently.  We do aerial yoga/trx/pilates/pole stuff etc with hammocks as well we just don't have/use extra handles etc.

Gorgeous! I love hammock, but I started with silks, so every time I express my interest in hammock, I'm told it's so much simpler, so I should just be able to pick it up, blah, blah, blah.

Those combos don't come naturally to me…even if I've done something similar with silks. My brain needs someone to break  in down in step-by-step terms.

While I don't think silks can be learned on-line, I do think hammock can be. Hint, hint, hint. 🙂

I would love to get into aerial yoga but I am not quite sure how to do it.  No classes are available around here.  How/where do  I begin to purchase an aerial Yoga sling?  What do I look for in a sling and the hanging devices? Is a sling best with one ceiling attachment or two?   Is there Aerial yoga videos/DVDs that I can purchase to help me get started?  Any advice would be appreciated.

I took an aerial yoga teacher training last year and absolutely love it for myself and teaching other! Here is an idea of what you may need for the ceiling height you have.

Rebekah has some great manuals for fabric and hammock

    http://www.rebekahleach.com/aerial-booksmanuals.html

There is also the anti-gravity route

    There is also trifly

When you put your hammock together I would suggest the william ball lock petzl carabiners. They can't accidently open – http://www.campsaver.com/william-ball-lock-carabiner?gclid=CPeJn6Pcx7QCFZGPPAodHCAAXw

When you find the height from the 1st link I listed you can always purchase your fabric by the yard elsewhere, I have purchased from this aerial supplyer and have been very happy with everything – http://www.ebay.com/itm/108-wide-Dark-Green-Aerial-Silk-/230829426864?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item35be8188b0

A single rig point vs a double point is personal preference. For more yoga type I like the double, but for dance I like having it on a single point.

Wow! Many thanks for all the info. I will do a little research. What should I expect to pay for the whole thing?

Depends on your ceiling height and if you buy things as a package vs individually.
