I just found out I got into my first showcase! This is the first time I’ll be performing on the pole. Ay tips? I’ve performed other forms of dance, but pole gives me a little anxiety because of things I can’t control as much, like grip. (Clammy hands from nerves? Slippery pole?) Thanks!

I'm right there with you! Someone suggested to me to skip using grip aids during practice and only clean your pole no more than once every five minutes. That way you can get used to dancing on a slightly slippery pole.

Also, make sure to only inlcude moves you are 100% comfortable in executing.

    Good luck!!

Video your routine rehersals from the start, you'll pick up on so many things – I did my first performance recently and only videod my final practice, then realised that I hated how one part actually looked and had to change it 1hr before the performance!

Clean the pole before you start, it gives you a chance to see what condition it's in after the last performance and it'll warm up the pole too.

Also reiterating littlelindsay's point, only use moves you know you can pull off under any condition! Dont put things in you only nail half of the time :).

    Good luck with it!

Oh and use clothing/tit tape! So many girls at our Christmas showcase had wardrobe slip ups (or outs rather) because they didn't stick things on and in lol. I used it to stop my shorts riding up and to stop my boobs falling out just in case, even though neither had happened in rehersal.
