    I have to say, all my life I hated the taste of water, which is silly because it doesn't taste like anything, but now I actually really like it if it's super cold with ice. I am getting married in October and I really want to lose 10-15 lbs I know I don't need to but it would really be nice to have a flat-ish stomach for the first time since I have been alive! I know drinking enough water will help with this. I drink more water than I used to but I am pretty sure most days I still don't reach my target water intake not to mention I drink coffee every morning and usually drink diet pop which is horrible so I am cutting that out as well, but I know the more caffeine or alcohol you drink the more watr you need on top of your daily amount you should be drinking. I work in a restaurant and it's really hard not to just have a sip of soda here and there, there's nothing that replaces the bubbly-ness of it but I am trying to switch to soda water with lemon and stevia based natural sodas which I really like. So if anyone has any tips for how to kick my soda habit or good replacements please let me know!

     

    I wanted to see if anyone else has trouble drinking water? I know some people don't need asd much as others etc but I want to try to just do a cup of coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day, luckily I am a one and done coffee girl, but sometimes the mug I use technically holds 2 cups but I never refill it. So I can't give that up but the soda has to go!

    Maybe we could do a water drinking challenge for others that are having trouble drinking more water, you don't even need to drink a lot just improve upon the quantity you are currently drinking. I know it will help with my flexyness, skin, energy and other things so I really want to do this!! Anyone want to do it? Maybe we can use this thread to track our intake, there's also a free app (I think it was free?) called water logged that I have been using and I really like it. Who is in?!?!

    Hey Glitter…

    I tell my clients this tip–

    Drink a glass before and after each meal and at least 1 glass with their snacks. That insures they get 8-10 glasses (8oz glass) per day.

    This only works if you are eating 3 meals and 2 snacks per day though which you should be doing anyway,……lol

    Alternately, I have them purchase a measured water bottle (Numbers on the outside)

    That way, they pack it around and have to make sure they are getting the required ounces in. This one is trickier for people though I find as they have to remember to drink. I find people have much greater success with the "before and After" meals and snacks because they are already stopping to eat, so no thought is involved to add the water…..

    My other suggestion for those who don't care for the taste(or lack thereof in water) squueze fresh lime or lemon into it. Makes a world of difference.

    For me it helps to squeeze a lemon in a pitcher of water. I can't stand plain water unless I'm really thirsty, then it just feels so refreshing, but to intake water when I'm not thirsty – blahI need something in it. With lemons I can drink it all day, no juice or soda needed. Lately I've also tried cold water with cucumber which was nice too.

    I like to brew herbal tea, ice it in a pitcher, and drink that (Herbal teas are naturally caffeine free).  My favorites are celestial seasonings blueberry and peach.  Makes water taste delicious, and its healthy!

    I know some of you will scream at this, but I seriously love love love the Mio liquid water enhancers.  They have a Mio Energy black cherry that is amazing.

     

    It is funny because when I am at home all I drink is water or coffee.  It is when I am at work that I have to force myself to drink stuff.  During the winter I am a huge mint tea or ginger tea kinda person.

    I also quit sodas but can't let go of the coffee. I don't think its a bad thing in moderation.

    My soda replacement is mineral water because the carbonation was a big reason for why I had trouble quitting soda. And now that I have a taste for it, general carbonated sodas, etc, all taste too sweet to me. I love mint water as well, so if you can get food grade peppermint oil, a few drops of that in water is really refreshing. And I drink lemon in water every morning. But peppermint water is my favorite.

    I LOVE La Croix… Sparkling water with different flavors. My favorite is lemon, but lime and mixed berry are also delicious. It’s my replacement for soda. I drink that, some coffee and tea, orange juice, and water. That’s pretty much it. I like staying hydrated! 🙂

    I am getting addicted to Braggs Apple Cider Vinger….a few spoons in a glass of water.  It kinda reminds me of pickle juice and OH, so GOOD!  I hate water plain otherwise as well.

    I am also trying to drink more water but not doing to great. For a while it used to work for me to always have a big easy to open water bottle near me at all times. Now I just keep forgetting my bottles at home and I end up buying soda or sparkling water with sugar in it :S Downloading this app right now and seeing if it helps. My skin has been awful the last months and I blame it on not drinking enough water.

    I just want to remind everyone since I know a lot of us use or have used myfitnesspal as a food journal or exercise log…it also does have a separate section to log how much water you drink as well! It measures in cups, ounces or liters so you can easily put it in depending on what container you use and how it measures.

    And since you like bubbles you could get one of those one liter bottles that has the soda carbonator in the top, so you put in your water with a few slices of fruit maybe, pop in the cartridge and voila, flavored sparkling water.

    I am also trying to drink more water. I really like San Pellegrino & Pierre mineral water. Pierre also comes in different flavors. My personal favorite is Citron, it taste like sprite but without the caffeine, sugar, and any other things found in soda 🙂

    I used to hate water flavor, but i read that anything like coffee, tea, or mineral are not as good as plain, natural water.

    I have one bottle of water in my desk at work, another next to my bed and one mother in the living room, always filled.

    When you see those, you know you have to drink it, at the begining you have to drink as much as you can, but then you get use to the taste.

    And believe me, you'll see the results very fast

    I use something with a straw like a tumbler for some reason when i drink anything with a straw i drink it faster and more of it haha give it a try why not right! 🙂

    Try getting into a habit of drinking two glasses of water with squeezed lemon, preferable at least  little bit warm, in the morning. Then go and start your day, have a shower, get dressed, put on make up. Be sure you always drink water or any liquids minimum 30 mins BEFORE and minimum an hour AFTER your meal. NEVER drink anything while eating. This causes… how can I say it… it kind of makes it "rot" faster if it makes sense. You may thing that you need to drink something during your meal because it helps to "push" the food down faster but, really, it is a big no no. And of course keep drinking a little water all day long, preferably with sqeezed lemon, it helps to get rid of the toxins in your body faster.
