Sweaty inner thighs
Posted by tacha666 on January 26, 2013 at 9:52 amHi!
When dancing, after a while I have problems with grip on my inner thighs and I think it’s because I start sweating. I don’t have these problems when before I start sweating, it occurs only when I dance a lot.
Then I can still do a pole sit, but when I lean back into plank or CKR I just slide down. Not fast, but I slide.
What grip aids are working on the thighs? We don’t have a lot of the stuff here in Germany. What I saw was iTac2, Tite Grip, Dry Hands and Mighty Grip.

itac should add some stickiness to your legs. Brass poles will make you stick morein that scenario, fyi. brass seems to work with sweat a little better (sometimes so much taht you get too muh grip), whereas all the other poles you just slide off with too much sweat.

another thing you can try is to seek out grip aids for other sports as well- tennis players and golfers use grip aids as well and those may help you and be more easily found where you are if you cant find pole specific products.
wait- do german folks golf? maybe thats just an american thing lol…
i've used this before (for tennis players) it's not as potent as dry hands, but similar

I want to say that you might need a combo. Dry hands will help with the sweat. That may be enough, so start with that. If it makes your skin too soft. then I would add a very thin layer of iTac, then wipe off with a cloth. Wait about 20 minutes between the layer of Dry Hands and the layer of iTac.

I get sweaty shoulders! during a really hard practice, I'll suddenly have trouble shoulder mounting due to slipping on a sheen of sweat, its really gross! LOL. I've found that Tite Grip is my favorite for preventing sweat on contact points. I don't love it on my hands, but i do like to rub it on my shoulder to help prevent sweating. if its really bad, I'll do a layer of Tite Grip plus a layer of Dry hands. If you like iTac on your thighs, i would try rubbing in some Tite Grip about 30 min before practice, then use your iTac.

Thanks girls!
Well, till now I didn't try any of these. I actually have no problem with sweaty hands (I sweat very few in general, thank god!) and I just discovered recently that sweat-problem on my inner thighs when I was dancing for about half an hour and then tried to do a cross knee release, so I thought maybe that's the point where I should consider to buy some of that grip stuff.
Am I right that Mighty Grip, Tite Grip and Dry Handy are all some sort of powder and iTac is some sort of a waxy texture? So the powdery stuff probably contain some sort of magnesia I guess? Can you see it? I mean, at home I don't care about that, but I've just been asked to dance at a party next month, so I don't want to have sort of a strange white mess on my inner thighs https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
@ katana: lol, I guess golfers are those strange people who run around with their nose so high that they can't find that little ball they for some reason beat through the landscape? Yes, I guess we do have 'em.

Mighty Grip is a powder, the others are not. Dry Hands is a clear, thin liquid. Tite Grip is also a liquid, but its orange (or maybe the new stuff is purple?) and is just slightly thicker than Dry Hands imho. Both Dry Hands and Tite Grip dry clear and won't leave a mess. I've never used Mighty Grip, but when I've seen people use it for performances, you can see a small cloud of white smoke in the air at times. That doesn't happen with Dry Hands and Tite Grip.

If you see "a cloud of smoke" when apply Mighty Grip then there are two possible reasons:
One: They dancer is using too much.
Two: Dancer is applying before warm ups and stretching.
We do have a new applicator that contains either one container or two containers of Mighty Grip which can be used like a powder puff or rosin bag. Applies just the right amount of powder to the skin and very little mess.
Hope this helps a bit.

Mighty grip is all I use, it is a wonder product to me. No matter what the weather and temp. is, it never fails on me. I have never ever seen anyone, including myself, leave a trail of white "smoke", but if that has happened, it sure does sound like its due to too much powder. You only need a tiny amount, and give it a couple of min. to get warmed up, then its sticky.

I jst bought Tite Grip yesterday because they sell it at our studio.
I's orange and smells like Tooth paste. Well, I'm having a 5-hour-private-workshop on Saturday so that's when I'm going to try it out…

I can reccommend dry hands for sweatiness, but my issue is my palms not thighs. And it does leave a little white, chalky residue but not much.
For body grip issues I use Mueller Stickum Spray. Especially in my elbow to keep from getting too sweaty for elbow grips. Not sure if you can get it in Germany but you can certainly order it online. Plus, it's really cheap! So even if you have to order it from a US site, I can't imagine the additional shipping will be too bad. I use it before I even start sweating though, it kind of keeps it at bay. But wetness will not effect it much, my inner elbow stays sticky even if I run it under water. Just BEWARE, you only need a light spray because it has some major grippy power.
