Hey gals! I'm super new to pole dancing, just started a few months ago. I love it and I'm so excited to learn new stuff!

I was wondering if anyone had any issues with bruised knuckles when they first started? It started a few weeks ago when I got my own pole and started practicing at home. The bottoms of my knuckles are constantly sore and bruised feeling (no discoloration) to the point where my hands are pretty painful when doing spins. At home I have started to tape my knuckles with cloth tape and it keeps the pain away, but the bruised feeling isnt going away.

Any thoughts? I'm hoping that my hands just need A LOT of conditioning, and that it will go away with time!

Do you have a different size pole at home? I found 50mm poles really painful in the same place so I tried a 45mm at my studio, I still get a massive callous where the worst pain was but it doesn’t hurt. Now im stronger I may try a 50mm again to see if it makes a difference but I think its probably more to do with the shape of my hands

Yes, I think the studio has 50mm and I have a 45mm at home because I figured it would help. Hopefully the callouses will come soon!

Just an update, the cloth tape has been helping alot. Anytime I do a lot of practie without it, I wake up feeling like someone took a hammer to my knuckles, but the pain is starting to lessen fortunately.

Now I just have to figure out how to get past the searing pain that is learning to do the pole sit 🙂 Seems like I'm not the only one with this complaint at least!
