  • Crammer Firm Grip on Brass?

Posted by FlyingFireBird on March 1, 2013 at 10:16 am

I normally dance on chrome poles and use a little tite grip for sweat and tac on the pole for that extra secure stick. I moved and the studio I'm at now only has brass poles. Tac on brass didn't work at all. I was more slippery and fell out of everything. I heard a friend recomend Firm Grip to get that tac-like feeling, but she hadn't tried it on brass yet. Has anyone tried it on brass before? Did it work?

I works for me. It is just a pain in the ass to clean off the pole.

Do you use the spray or the paste? I just noticed that both are on Amazon.

I've only tried the spray, although now that I know it has butane in it, I want to try the powder or paste

Firm Grip Spray is almost like glue. It’s VERRY sticky!! I only use it in places like the pit of my elbow or knee sometimes for a little extra security, or a light spritz on the pole if im having a really slippy day. Apply veryyy lightly. Lol. Its not the best pole grip aid IMO because it’s very difficult to slide while you have that stuff on your skin–I actually got a rash from it once because of much it made me stick to the pole!!

The paste and powder I have tried, but only on silks… The paste is pretty sticky as well (not as much as the spray, but still more than say, iTac) but I could see the powder working well with pole–it’s sticky but it doesn’t sit on top of your skin like superglue like the spray.

I only use it for “emergencies,” like it you’re going to be performing a dangerous move and worried about a specific body grip (like back of the knee). It’s fine for brass. But I’ve never put it directly on the pole. And it is too grippy for general use. There are subtle ways your body slides around the pole that you aren’t even aware of til it can’t.

I have it for my silks, but would never let students or anyone use it on the poles as it makes a lot of sticky and hard to clean off residue. Great for silks, not for pole!

I have even sprayed it on my brass for extra stick! Yes, can use it on brass but it is harder to clean the pole after.
