Keep getting stuck in superman!
Posted by tehCammy on March 11, 2013 at 2:57 pmI need help getting into superman. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I find superman itself easy and comfy to hold, I just can't get into it up the pole. I can drop into superman from standing, or do Veena's superman spin, but when I try to go into superman from apprentice, knee hold, stargazer, marley, pike hip hold, ANYTHING my legs get stuck and I can't seem to get rotated around.
Does anybody have any tips, or has anybody had similar struggles with the rotation part of superman? It seems like everybody I know who poles finds this one really easy!! Argh! I want to do a superman drop! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif

Oops….Sorry. I hit enter and it posted.
Are you getting stuck and then falling out of it? Or is it when you go to flip over into it(say from the apprentice) that you find you don't have enough room to get to the correct position?

Thx chemgoddess!
Reenie: I find I either don't have enough room, or I collapse behind/into the pole. I would love to post a video, but I don't have access to my webcam right now! 🙁

This is for another combo, but Amy displays a very good example of the required mechanics for apprentice to superman
it begins at :26

I had a similar problem my thighs/butt getting stuck getting into the superman and couldn't finish rotating around. I found lowering my top hand just a smudge from where I naturally place it gave me enough room to rotate.

Here is another one from EmotionCatcher
Side v to superman starts 1:26

I have a similiar problem. I have a very large butt so I get stuck. I had my instructor tell me to swing my free leg out wide as I flip. That seems to help a lot. Maybe try that?

I find it is helpful to really swing that top leg over from almost a shooting star kind of position. I sit up from a Gemini, push up from that bottom hand to get my top hand up on the pole to v my legs a bit. From there I make sure my top leg really clears the pole before I set into the superman hold. Cross the legs together really hard until you get used to the hold–and point the toes when crossing the ankles. I find it makes the legs more firm with the grip…and then dropping the hips slightly was a tip I got from emotioncatcher a long time ago that reeeeally made my supermans much prettier and more relaxed looking, all the while really getting more grip with the skin in the whole region.

Thanks so much for the tips guys. Swinging the leg wide and really making sure it clears the pole first sound like solid solutions. I'm going to give them a try tonight and report back! 😀
Reenie, I can't tell you how many times I have viewed Amy and EmotionCatcher's videos on the subject of superman. LOL. I have a youtube playlist so I can just play them over and over, haha. Those vids are a great resource.
