so I’ve never had an ingrown hair. Not from epilating nor waxing on even the most sensitive areas. But lately I am getting these semi firm bumps on my calves right at the P.o.c for climbing. I have been dancing for 12 months and experiencing this for the past month. About a week after the bump appears, enough exfoliating through the week makes it soft enough to see and break through to the trapped hair. I am only getting these on my dominant climbing leg. Anyone else experienced this or has suggestions other than “exfoliate”? Thanks!

I use this stuff called Vanish PFB. It's a roll on salicyclic acid for your girly bits after waxing or shaving to prevent ingrows. It works pretty well but can sting some.

Yes, salicylic acid.  It is great for ingrowns as it forces turnover of the skin.  Many of the adult acne creams/gels hav this in it and are quite less $$ than ingorwn treatments.

I've had good luck using tea tree oil on ingrown-hairs.  When I started having the in-grown hair issue, I just dabbed a little on and the next day the problem was gone. The smell can be a bit off-putting, but it's a great antiseptic oil for all types of skin issues and you can find it in drug stores and beauty supply  stores. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have some at home for when I make masks. I’ll try it, never thought to put it on hair.

I was trying aspirin as well because fixing it isn’t the issue. I just wanted to know if there was prevention or actingr

Never had them from pole but it sounds like it's definitely possible when you consider what we do with our legs…. I used to get crazy ingrowns from waxing, but not anymore!!! (I sound like a commercial, don't worry!) I used to use tea tree oil too, it's great, but now I use Tendskin (you can only buy it online in the UK through beautyexpert.com but I think it's available most places in the States). It is basically rubbing alcohol (isopropanol) so it stings a little and smells awful, but that goes away in about ten minutes. I use it every second day and literally have had about three ingrowns in the year since I started which is NOTHING compared to what I used to get!

I'm not sure that this is the case and hope it is not…
but from my experience, the allergy to the pole coating (chrome) started in similar way.

I’m glad someone else is having this trouble! I try to exfoliate all the time but there is a patch on both my legs on my inner shins right where it contacts the pole on climbs or crucifix etc so I had put it down to poling also rather than just normal shaving coz I don’t get it anywhere else! It rubbish coz it means my legs never seem smooth even after I’ve just shaved, I have that tendskin hazelnut so ill try that.
