Does anyone else have motivation issues with training?  Especially those who teach classes.  I'm constantly kicking myself for not having a lot of motivation for "me" time on the pole after teaching (though I love spending tons of time watching videos here and Youtube and following all the discussion posts here).

I teach 10 pole classes, a Pilates class, and 4 dance classes a week and am in rehearsals 30 hours a week for my ballet company. So I get that it's a lot, but getting it certainly doesn't get me on the pole more 😉

Does anyone else have any fun solutions to overcome motivation issues besides just bucking up and making yourself do it?

I think that if you do so much physical work during the week, maybe you should just forgive yourself for not having the motivation to do more physical work for fun. I don't think that forcing yourself to do somthing is going to help your motivation, nor make pole more fun for you. When I busy with other things, I just accept that my pole progress is slower.

    That said, I find that:

Taking classes helps me stay motivated because I learn new tricks I wouldn't have learned by myself.

When I practice alone, I try to treat myself to some "fun pole" first – I work on freestyle and dance, which are more fun for me than learning tricks, and it gets me in the mood for the more demanding work. When I feel really down I do only the fun part.

If it is hard for me to keep practicing once I've started, I work with a camera. This way I see all the problems with what I do and it makes me want to keep working to perfect my tricks.

Set up fun and creative goals. For example, about a year ago I wanted to make a clip with all the superman variations I could think of. I made a huge list of combinations of tricks and transitions that the include superman (I think I even invented one), and started working on them and filming them. I had great fun working on it, and it really pushed me forward superman wise.

I like the list idea.  I've been trying to find an opportunity to take a class somewhere but the closest studios to me are 2 hours in any direction.  That's what I miss the most is being able to take class!  I have some extra time this week so I look forward to being able to spend some more time on the pole one way or another 🙂

I cannot add anything useful to this topic but I just wanted to say, I am so jealous of you working in a ballet company :))
