Do any of you pole dance with acryllic nails on?? Do you find it difficult? Im a beginner pole dancer, learning to do inverts, and working on the chopper move – now that I am working on inverts I find it hard to keep these damn nails on! Im thinking im going to take them off… but I am so use to them! What are your thoughts??

When I used to pole dance a while back I started out with acrylic nails on and it was dang hard! I used to hit my nails on the pole all the time, and I’m sure you can relate to the pain. But I’m pretty sure you can learn through it and learn how to function with them on. I’ve seen girls do it.

Even though nail polish tends to get chipped on the pole anyways. That’s why I thought it was smarter for me to save myself some money on getting them done and just take them off…

I mostly wear acrylics as I’m a nail tech & use them as my advertisement. I do find it slightly more awkward to grip sometimes, not sure if its to do with pole diameter tho, I’m on a 38mm. Yeah the pain when you catch or wrench one is horrible. I’m guessing the thicker the pole diameter the less they would interfere? X

i can see how they would get in the way starting out, but i wear them all the time now that i'm a bit more advanced and a good majority of the tricks don't involve using my hands anyway..i'm on a 50mm though so that might make a difference….

I have long gel nails and don't find it difficult to pole with them on. Keep in mind, I've been poling for awhile. I have, however, broken a nail and chipped a nail pole dancing before, but it's so rare and it's usually when I'm well overdue for a fill or when I have a nail that is thinner on the sides or on the tip. When I go in for fills, I have my nail tech fill the whole nail, not just at the top. This helps to minimize breakage, but when it does happen its probably from my floorwork or dismounts from the pole to the floor. Hope this helps.

I have completely ripped off two nails doing the pole… My most common mistake is gripping so hard my pinky gets under my hand… I undo my hand and my pinky stays…so incredibly painful! :0 have taken off my real nail too

I have real nails for the first time EVER… long nails for the first time ever lol.  I was trying to do a thigh rest and slid down onto the tip of my pinky nail. It dug in, leaving a welped scratched bruise. I've been considering just cutting them all back off. But they're so pretty, and I haven't bitten or broken a single one. 🙁

I just had some on and when I would do spins, It's like my skin would turn/pull and cause my fingers to burn. Everything is better natural- ain't that right!? Lol. I didn't like poling with them.
