I love the look of the new Veena pole however my husband is concerned About the longevity of a powder coat finish. Has anyone ever had the finish of a powder coated pole start to Wear off with time and/or heavy use?

The LMs at one of my studios are fine. No damage, scratches, etc… they're a few years old.

We have custom powder coated poles at my main studio that are also a few years old and the coating seems thicker than the LM finish and more prone to scratching. Some of them are pretty beat up in places (chips and scratches) but nothing that effects pole use. Just aesthetics.

The finish itself has not worn off on either of the types, color hasn't faded, etc. Again both poles have been in pretty heavy use for a few years so I don't think there's much to worry about.

I was wondering about drop moves in LM poles. Kyrsten I think you had commented about drops hurting but I also remember a vid of you practising a jade drop. Was that on a powder coated pole?

I'm not a big drops person in the first place, but I usually do my drops on the chrome or stainless poles. Powder is way too grabby for me. It is possible though, it will just burn some more and you'll have to release a little more 🙂 I also find that the LM powder coat is not as grippy as our custom powder coat for some reason. The custom ones are REALLY grabby for me. The LMs just moderately.

My powder coat was up in my garage for 3+ years.  Not only did it withstand temperature changes, but it had gotten run in to numerous times by pieces of equipment, from bikes to ducting to lawnmowers.  I am adding a bunch of photos to an album about the LM I used to have.  If this is the same process as the original LM's you have nothing to worry about.

I also wanted to note that a lady here in NE Ohio has one installed out on her patio all summer long.  She has a grated wooden overhang that she attaches it to.  I think she pretty much leaves it out there all summer.
