  • Different workouts to help with pole?

Well, I feel like I've been posting here a ton since I've found this page 😡 lol. But, I have yet another question. I've seen things about different workouts to do to help with pole. Are these necessary? I walk daily, but I don't really do weight training….or really anything else lol. One of the reasons I got a pole was because it's something I really took an interest in, and is an awesome workout! I knew if I WANTED to do it, I would be more apt to "working out". The problem is, I have a very busy schedule. My husband is currently deployed, so I'm kind of doing the single mom, taking care of everything thing :p. I don't have time to get in the gym, and the only time I will have time to pole is once my daughter is in bed (every night, so I think that's pretty good!). Will I be able to pole with not doing any other workouts? If so, will my body still tone….particularly my booty:p…with just poling/dancing as my workout?

If you pole 3+ times a week that will do wonders for toning your bod. You can do push ups, sits ups, use pull up bar, do curls & arm exercises with light weights at home, as supplemental exercises to boost your arm & core strength as well if you want. Veena’s strength, foam roller & conditioning exercises are great too!

Hi Stephnicoleex3, You can absolutely use pole only as a workout it's self! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifBut it's important to do some conditioning and strength work as part of your pole practice. This will help prevent injury. If you're taking the lessons here they are complete, and will even give you the proper conditioning and flexibility needed for pole. Some studios do not have conditioning in their curriculum so find one that does. If you're looking to compete then doing some cross training with weights and other muscle building activities is a good idea, but not needed for the amateur pole dancer. So short answer is no, you don't need to do any other workout, however you should be progressing in the right order to build strength and prevent injury.

Veena is right. To build strength, all you need to do is poling. Besides poling, you need to do just some cardio exercises such as running, swimming, aerobics etc… Yoga and stretching will also help with flexibility

I agree with everyone that just doing pole is great for strength. I also like to cross train by lifting weights and working on my core. I need to go back to yoga to work on flexibilty as well. My studio offers pole conditioning and the weight lifting class that I take. I was already doing the other things when I started poling, so I've just kept it the same. Hope that helps :).
