Hello, everyone! I'm new to pole fitness and hope to take my first "beginner's" pole classes very soon. I'm lucky enough to live in the same area as the famous Dakota Fox, and will probably start attending classes her studio, Aradia Fitness. I've also heard of Vertical Tease in Durham. However, I'm also looking for a hip-hop inspired pole studio – a studio which bases their dance classes and pole routines MAINLY in hip-hop inspired movement and with hip hop music. I know that the more well-known studios such as Aradia and Vertical tease offer hip-hop fitness classes but I'm also looking for a studio with mainly a hip-hop vibe – preferably in Raleigh but I'd be willing to travel to Cary or Durham!  🙂

By-the-way, LOVE what you guys are doing here. I've been scanning some of the threads and I love the spirit of pole dancers. You all really enjoy and are dedicated to what you do!!  😉

Go to TML Fitness in Raleigh! It's in the Brier Creek area across from Angus Barn. The classes are all reasonably priced. Sometimes you can even catch a deal on Groupon. The instructors are great and any class you take with Karen will be hip-hop inspired! Plus there is a hip-hop pole class on Saturdays!

Welcome to the fun community that is only found within pole fitness! We’d love to have you come visit us at Aradia Fitness someday =)

…not sure if you are looking more for hip-hop/pole choreo classes or just pole lessons/sessions that focus mainly on hip-hop music & dance style in the presentation or style of teaching… at Aradia our instructors all have different movement styles & musical tastes (so you kinda get a little bit of everything!). The pole sessions themselves are geared more toward conditioning, technique and flow and then we have the additional classes which focus on choreo, movement & musicality (Polesque, Sultry Pole, etc).

However NC and the Raleigh area really is a great place to get into pole – I think all the studios here are great =) I’d definitely recommend checking out as many as you can – no two studios are ever alike and all have something unique & fun to offer! Plus you’ll get to meet a variety of fun local polers!

Hope to see you soon =)

    xoxo

Aradia has been an amazing place for me. While the pole classes themselves are not specifically hip-hop oriented, the instructors do try to throw in different styles of music so the students can experiment with their movement. And of course there are the extra classes as Dakota mentioned, and often the instructors will take in requests from the students for their music.

I also recommend checking out NC Dance Institute, they offer some fun non-pole hip hop classes (Ronnie is an awesome choreographer and dancer there) for you to get the inspiration if you do not already have a background in hip hop dance (or if you do and want more). I love taking the extra classes off the pole when I can to build my repertoire of movements =)
