I just got my first tattoo a day ago. It's on my ribs, about an inch under my left breast. But.. how long do you think I should stay off of the pole? The tattoo artist who did it said it was really up to me, depending on how it's feeling. It's fairly tiny, only a single word, about as tall/long as two fingers. It's not exactly painful right now, but rubbing at it would probably irritate it. Do you think it's worth it to go to class and just avoid doing moves that involve armpit/chest/belly/breast contact? For example, work on spins or climbs? Or to just let it heal completely?

What did you guys do when you got a tattoo?

sounds like your is small- those heal SUPER fast.  yah text heals quick.

i think you could go to pole class 🙂 definitely avoid any moves that will over pull on the skin in that area.  flag sounds like a bad idea.  yogini is out.

my belly rocker is slightly distorted in a tiny spot on my right waist from gemini hangs.  i waited about a 4 months for it to heal, but mine had color was big and was RIGHT where the pole rests.

i think your idea to work on climbs is good- and spins too, as long as the pole doesnt touch your new tat or tug too aggressively at your skin

When I got my forearm tattoo, I stayed off the pole for the entire two weeks it took to heal and finish peeling. The damn thing hurt a lot the day after I got it (and I had to work, with it covered, which didn't help), and while I could move my arm and wrist without any problems, rubbing was possibly the worst thing in the world.

Once it started peeling, I was completely freaked about anything touching it, too. Rub some of that fragile skin off, and you'll take the tattoo ink with it.

I'm actually not sure what I'll do when I get my back tattoo… won't be able to wear a bra because it'll rub, but completely uncomfortable being seen without a bra on. I'll probably try to aim it for some kind of holiday time, and hopefully while I'm still in University so I don't have to worry about a job.

So… I'd say to be very careful! Any rubbing or pressing of that area, or even if you slip and accidentally bang into the pole, could distort or hurt your tattoo. You aren't even supposed to go swimming or stay in water for any length of time (other than a shower) until 6 months has passed.

While small, I'm sure the tattoo means a lot to you. It's part of you now!

Thanks, guys! My artist said that I could go swimming again after it's completely healed? It's so confusing when every artist gives different information!

It doesn't really hurt at all right now. It gets a tiny bit stingy when I wash it though, and that's it. It doesn't look scabby (yet), but if I gently run my fingers over it, I can "read" it with my fingers because right where the ink is it's kinda rough, and upraised.

I had my ribs/side tattooed and stayed off pole for 6 days but that was mainly because of when they could fit me in compared to my lesson day. I tend to leave it 3 days if I can and then im careful not to have too much contact, dont want any pole burn on them!once its peeled it should be good, just remember it will still need to be moisturised quite regularly

When I got my huge back one, I stayed away from pole or any work involving laying on my back. I didn’t even work out to hard bc I didn’t want to sweat…so it took me about 10 days afterwards to get back to normal. If its small, I think it will heal faster for you. I’d give it like 3-4 days. Congrats on your new tattoo 🙂

I had one done on my hand and one on my shoulder and I just laid low for a few days like 5 and they were fine. If u do sweat your suppose to put a&d on them which can get on the pole so that may suck a little.
