Hi I’ve heard from many people I should master the inverted V before I move to inverts. I can do basic invert and crucifix . But I tried the inverted v and I’m no where close to getting it. Do I need to master that before I move on to cross ankle release and Gemini ?TIA

The inverted V is a move that can be difficult for many because it requires engaging the core to pull the hips in the correct position. Just because you can invert, doesn’t necessarily mean your muscles are strong enough to do the inverted V. I’ve seen a lot of students struggle with this move in particular. It does make transitioning into an invert or inner leg hang smoother and prettier, however it’s not a move that you have to be able to do to progress with your inversions.

Are you talking about the v invert? take your time with that one, it requires a great deal of strength…but you can do prep exercises over the next few weeks that will get you ready for the v invert-pole hold, knee tucks, pole pull ups those are just a few…there are others within Veena’s conditioning & strength lessons.

You get into a CAR from a plank & CKR from a pole sit. So you should be able to plank well & be able to hold a pole sit with ease before attempting.

And you can get into Gemini & Scorpio from a basic invert, you don’t need to v invert. Start learning both those from the floor though, until you are confident & sure in your point of contact placement, then give it a try (low) on the pole. HTH!

Yanille, I see you are following the lessons here, you'll see the V invert is not right by the Basic invert but much farther down the line of lessons. Also the cross ankle and cross knee are before any inverts so you do not need a V invert to work on those! The V invert is hard and it's not necessary to have your v invert before working on Gemini's Scorpio.

So remember the lessons are place in the order in which you should work on them.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Thanks for this! I am in the same position in that I can’t do the inverted v and therefore getting VERY discouraged, so much I haven’t been poling. I can however do the basic invert and because of this great thread I will keep on! Thanks so much lovely ladies!!!

I think you may also getting the inverted V and tucked invert to V confused. There are quite a few that will teach the tucked invert into V before ever teaching a full invert into inverted crucifix.  By training the body to get into that position first you "train out" the grabbing with the foot to get inverted.  It also helps when starting aerial inverts to do the tuck into V and if you have that already solid it does not need to be relearned.
