  • New Pole = Factory Grease?

My new pole (chrome 45mm xpert) should be here in about a week. I've been doing some looking around, and I found that new chrome poles have some sort of factory grease coating them? To help it not get damamged during shipping? I mean, aside from just new-pole slipperiness. And all the threads I saw to get that one coating off had conflicting info — clean with acetone! No, don't, it'll hurt it! Dish soap and water! But it says not to! Plain rubbing alcohol! Use gin! Vinegar! Windex! Just pole on it and break it in anyway! Errr.. which one?!

So, keep in mind, I am only asking about what to use to get off that factory grease stuff.. NOT for regular cleanings. What should I do for the original clean down (or two!) to get that coating off?

I don't have personal experience with this but I've read many times here that steam cleaning the pole really helps

I have always just used rubbing alcohol on my pole and have never had issues.

I did the Veena trick and steam cleaned mine and it totally worked for getting the factory coating off. I just got a titan 45 in May. I also used a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water for cleaning my pole.

    Hi There,

X-Poles are wiped down before packing to remove dust so this must be a rare case.  To clean grime, grease, or dirt check out X-CLEAN: http://xpoleus.com/store/xclean-new-p-1237.html

    Thank you,

    Team X-Pole

I don’t think it’s so rare. I have the same problem since I bought my pole in december. I still can not do anything on my pole without slipping.

I use Dry Hands and it helps a bit for 1 or 2 tricks but right after i slip again. I clean my pole with rubbing alcohol or windex (not directly on the pole) but the “grease’ come back every time.

In my pole class, i don’t have this problem at all. My teacher uses Xstage and I stick a lot better on them.

Do you think the Xclean will help? I’m really discouraged. I can not do anything at home so I don’t use my pole anymore…

when I got my brass 45 Xpert it had something on it… not a whole proper greasy coating, just more a slight slidey feel that also made it shinier (which was nice!). Not a big deal at all though and it wasn't truly greasy. I just used 100% alcohol (I work in a lab so stole some ethanol from there) and gave it a good rub down and it was perfect.

Our designer will be at our factory next week for QC checking of all our new and current products and will get an update on the greasing issue. From our understanding greasing the poles should have stopped ages ago and so if poles are being received now with grease we need to consulate with our pole production teams.

X-Clean has been tested continually over the last 6 months at studios, events and competitions and has proven to be am amazing cleaner – but it must not be used on Powder Coated poles (Soap and Water are fine for Powder Coated poles). In addition on all the poles we have tested the grip has increased, especially Chrome poles. It appears being shiny and ultra clean makes for good grip.

We agree continuing to test but all current experiences say if you are having grip problems try X-Clean!!

    Best Regards

    X-Pole Tech Team
