    Hey girls.

Just looking for some advice here. I have my invert sorted pretty much and never seem to have an issue getting the invert down, BUT when trying the gemini move, I find I can't release my hands. This is because when I go up into the invert, my hands are never below my knee bend enough to let go. I am very short, and am starting to wonder if this creating my problem a little. My legs don't seem long enough to go high enough up the pole for my hands to sit much lower than my knee join. This is getting really frustrating after getting the same result weeks on. Is there any advice? I have tried moving my hands further down when trying to invert at the start, but to be fair, I can't put them any lower to go into the invert – as they are placed exactly where the instructional videos tell me to place them.

Please help – a very frustrated poler 🙁

Not that i know much…i just started my gemini..not to hi jack ur thread..i cant get both arms around my foot and stay solid..anyway..when i invert..i guess i do more of a chopper? than straight in2 gemini cause i’ll definitely land on my hands too low..once my outside leg hits the pole my arms are straight & i pull down on the pole with my arms which scoots my body up to get my legs higher and my hip up against the pole then i try to think to point my foot down on the leg thats bent…or atleast im pretty sure thats what i do…hope some part of that helps

Can you post a video? That will help. You can always slide your hands down out of the way to get a good knee pit grip.

Do you have a strong solid invert?  What helped me a lot was to V first and then bring my legs to the pole.  If your legs are straight you will get your knee higher on the pole.  It also helps to have a VERY strong inverted crucifix/bat hang.  That way you know you can hang on with your legs and position your hands wherever with no fear of falling off the pole.

It sounds like it’s most likely a strength and “getting used to the motion” issue. 🙂 Your hips need to go well above your hands in order to get the knee hooked correctly without the hands being in the way. So once you get up you need to have an extra bit of oomph to get your hips up. Are you able to control your invert up *and* down?
