Don’t rush into doing inverts you will end up with an injury

don't compare yourself to others, it is your personal journey 🙂
Pole is bloody hard work but the best workout ever 🙂
You will become addicted and obsessed and spend hours on forums and watching pole videos 😉
You will be mortified at wearing skimpy shorts to begin with but the more experienced you get the smaller those shorts will get 🙂
You will discover muscles you never know existed 😉

My advice? If you love it…
STICK WITH IT.I can't tell you how many times I've done all my beginner moves again so that I know where my strength is, because I've taken a month or two off my pole. Life, lack of space, tiredness, the blerg- they all get in there and try to make you not able to practice. It's all about getting creative to solve those problems!

Do strengthening exercises especially for the upper body!
-
Take advantage of the lessons here. The 30 day take off has so much info for new dancers!

I don’t have my pole yet. Saving to buy the Veena like mynx. I want to subscribe for lessons..will it be worth my investment to subscribe now? Are there videos I can get started with where the pole is optional?

Don't rush
Ask questions of the studio you are planning on going to
Supplement with lessons here as much as you can
Bruises will diminish over time
It will hurt and you probably will fall at some point
When you reach your first plateau (or 15th) keep going, one day there will be a breakthrough
Just because you can "do" a move does not mean that you know it….it may be elusive the next pole session
You are not better than any beginner level class. They are fun to take again even years down the road.
Start setting aside money now for all of the shoes/booty shorts/workshops/comps, etc that you will want to attend
Don't make it a competition
And most of all…ENJOY

Oakmama, there are many lessons that do not use the pole. I have Floorwork, conditioning, strength (most can be done with a wall or door jam) flexibility training, foam roller and even some hula hooping!

Thanks Veena. I think ima give it a try. I went to a studio class today and I have lost some stamina. I need to build strentgh, plus it sees like a good way to spend my Saturday evening since I’m home alone; )
