Also find it hard to have moves that go with the beat. It’s my first time trying today. Does anyone feel the same way? Any tips on how to choreograph your dance routine? TIA I really appreciate all u guys for taking time to respond and support I have gotten in past from Venna and students u guys rock

Hey hunny I always struggle building a routine as I can never rember it. And im crap off pole. But recently I been doing reserch on this. So the song you have chosen play it a lot to yourself so you know it start to finishh in your head. Record yourself. To start the routine pick the combos you want in it. So say you have 4 different combos pick were abouts in the song they fit in. Then between them try to work on some floor work to rest in between songs and add the spins to. Use lots of different levels some on the floor some standing and some in the air. Try to mix up your angles like crucifix is straight. Jane splits horizontal and twisted balarine and ayesha all done on different angles if that makes sense. Im not very good at this myself but hope it helps. Good luck xxx

I don’t always choreograph to the song, but sometimes to the words too. Mind you, I’ve only performed publicly once, but this is what worked for me:

    – Pick a song that you can stand to listen to over and over again.

    – Freestyle to the song and videotape it if you can. You might find that you naturally move to a certain part of the song.

    – Write down the moves that you are comfortable with and not something you’ve only managed to get into half the time.

    – Try adding those moves into your ‘freestyles’

    – Don’t underestimate adding floorwork and transitions. In terms of public performances, this is hugely important, but you also may want to slow down your movements and add moments where you are dancing off the pole.

    – Dress in something that makes you feeling comfortable and sexy (especially the latter because you’ll be performing for your man) and practice in your outfit.

    – And whatever you do, don’t tell him (or anyone) if you’ve messed up a move. Part of the purpose of practicing over and ver, is that you will also be comfortable enough to freestyle at part where you may have missed something or made a mistake. Besides, he won’t know what your routine was supposed to be, so just be confident in everything that you do.

    Good luck!

If you have not chosen a song yet, may I suggest “All of Me” by John Legend? Yes, it is sung by a man but perhaps there is a cover song out there by a female that sounds good. The words are beautiful…
