  • Cannot remove attachment from baseplate of Old X-pole

So I bought a “new” pole (new to me because I used to just have my static 45) from a studio that closed in Phoenix. I couldn’t tell the difference when I was on them that they were the OLD x-pole. I have never installed one before, but I watched a few videos. My base plate is stuck to the A pole. I need to get an extension piece between the A pole and the base plate, right? Because it’s a ceiling mounted pole. And the base plate (not the actual plate itself, but where they attach) is stuck. I can’t unscrew it.

This pole is useless to me unless I can get that part unscrewed to get the extension in. Looking for advise as to how to free it. I’ve tried hitting the tightening rod with a hammer, I’ve used two people. Nothing is working.

are you saying the base won’t come out of the bottom? or that the coupler is stuck to the extension. If the base is stuck, unscrew the 2 screws for spin mode, prop the pole upright, stand on the base and pull like a mofo.

As for the coupler, I had the same issue. try smacking it with the side of a butter knife to shock the threads. It might take a while, but the shock of smacking the pole is what loosens the threading.

Whatever that part is. That’s the part that’s stuck. I can’t unscrew it to put in the attachment. It’s literally just the two longer tubes on my pole. Atleast, that’s how it was handed off to me.

Like, that’s where I’m trying to unscrew the extension from. Not from the main pole. But the extension from the plate. Not the little piece from the plate. Does that make sense?

I have the “original” x-pole in 50mm and with my manual out I think your base plate is stuck to your a-pole without a base insert in between that holds the spin & static mode. In order: base plate, base insert, extensions, apole, bpole and so on… Hope that helps

@Yuengling right. Except the pole was GIVEN to me attached to the A-pole instead of extension (which is what I need.) A-pole is stuck. I can’t unstick it.

That is indeed the coupler. Try taking the spin screws out completely, sticking a screw driver in one of the screw holes and stick a chopstick in the a pole hole. Place the chopstick in the a pole so it is pressing against the ground. Now, take a hammer, and smack the screwdriver. You are going to probably have to smack it many times, but the shock of the smack will eventually un-seize the threads and it should come off easily.

@AG So should my pole be laying down? I’m not sure how I would make the chopstick touch the ground, otherwise.

Yes, laying down. The chopstick should act like a lever to resist the torque of the screw driver. You might also cover the Pole with a towel and gently smack the seams, like you would a pickle jar. Alternate smacking the seam and the screw driver and it should work. Be patient with it. I fussed with a stuck pole fire an hour once. Good luck. Once you do get it off, you should get that metal lube Amy recommended on her blog. It had tiny metal fragments in it and is specific for metal lubing.

Would like to know if you were able to unscrew your pole and finally enjoy it…. Happy poling.
